I currently have the Enzotech SLF-1 (http://www.enzotechnology.com/slf_1.htm) to cool my 790i SB and was wondering, does it need active cooling, or will using something like the Enzotech CNB-S1L (http://www.enzotechnology.com/cnb_s1l.htm) be enough? (longer copper fins, no fan)
Would the fanless option be better then stock cooling?

Throwing a little quiet fan on any heatsink will certainly help.
You can always have one custom made too.

Fanless is NOT enough for that chip. Trust me, I am in the process of replacing the CNB-S1L I have on it now. 80C without a fan.

Please follow his advice. I used the enzotech heatsink only version on my stirker II extreme and nearly burnt my hand. Was at 80 degrees in the bios at stock volts and hardly any load.
It needs active cooling
