Hi.

Im upgrading my rig and i used Arctic Silver 5, but i wonder if the MX-2, OCZ FREEZER or another ones will be better.

Is it the temps of the MX-2 better even when you leave the Arctic Silver 5 for long periods?? or its just better in the beggining when the AS5 its not working at 100%??

im in spain so only very very popular labels. not many chices here...

thank you

the mx-2 or tx-2 (they are the same) work better than as5 even if u let as5 cure, and they are compleatly non conductive

oh great!!! i have been reading diferent post and i ws getting nuts with the results. im buying the MX-2.

one quick thing;

i have AS5 in my motherboard bridges for 1´5 years; do they need to be replaced??

Yes I personally too preffer the MX2, It's non conductive so it's great for using on mosfets, memory modules, CPU's and GPU's , have it everywhere.
I changed the GTX280 stock GPU chewing gum for MX2 and the temps went down by 6 degrees in load , I think that says something.

great news then.... i wont have to replace the AC5 in the motherboard bridges.

one more thing;

i saw some review that the TX-2 is slightly better than MX-2; is it truth?? i have both options in the same store at the same price.... TX-2 OR MX-2??

will this 2 pastes last very long as the AS5???

You can use either of the three. MX-2, Freeze Extreme or AS5 all give good results, the latter maybe just a few degrees shy of the first ones.:up:

sorry for my english...."the latter maybe just a few degrees shy of the first ones".

that means that the last one(TX-2) is a few degrees worst that MX-2??

thank you

i use as5 Céramique, It's non conductive, i have tried the others, never noticed a diff in temps, so i keep using it, i love it.

It means that the AS5, which has been here for quite a while, is few degrees worse than MX-2, OCZ Freeze Extreme and etc.:)

We can't forget the noctua nt-h1.. it is a great thermal paste too..in the reviews of this thermal paste, she comes better than as5 :clap:

tx2 = mx2, they are the same paste ive used both they have the same constancy, color and performance. they even have the same tube and the same label paper

i think they have it at the store. i never heard of it.

have you tried??

the diamond based stuff will gouge and scratch your HS/IHS

ok then, MX-2.

thank you!!

Aluminium oxides were taken of from US Environmental protection agency in 1988, not toxic then.:D

Just used the mx2 on my gfx card and love it! You get way more than the AS and don´t need to worry about making short circuiting anything.

Do you have any pics to back that up? I have used Ic7 for a few months now. If you do some rubbing trying to get it off, it will polish the HS & IHS(if too much rubbing pressure is used it will take off the Intel markings( ask WrigleyVillian:p:).
But it does NOT gouge & scratch the HS/IHS.

& yes this is the best TIM on the market. There is a long thread on this in the WCG section.

I thought always Coollaboratory CL-LIQUIDPRO is the best termopaste in the world. But that test made me to think http://hardwarelogic.com/news/137/ARTICLE/2752/3/2008-03-03.html

Hey - don't worry about the diamond scratching your surfaces ... What's the black stuff on the wet'n'dry sandpaper that the enthusiasts among us use for lapping? Carborundum, aka silicon carbide. It's harder than any metal, and about the same as aluminium oxide (aka ruby, aka corundum), both 9 on Moh's scale of hardness. Diamond is 10. (http://www.reade.com/Particle_Briefings/mohs_hardness_abrasive_grit.html) They could all scratch your metal surfaces, but the particles in the t. paste will be much finer than the 1000- or 1500-grit used for lapping, so they won't do any harm.
I can't quote any references, but I think that most of the thermal resistance of the pastes comes from the liquid part, which is probably several times more resistive than any of the solids used. That would mean that the best pastes have less liquid, and are probably drier. But then, they won't so easily squash out of the gap between the HS and chip, so you'll have a thicker layer, which will increase resistance. I guess we just have to rely on experimental results to find what's best.
Thanks for the thread and the link to TheHardwareLogic review ... I've only used AS5 so far.
