View Full Version : gtx-280 cooler advice
Hi, I'm looking for a good aftermarket air cooler for the GTX-280 video card. My prioritys are good temps (duh) and space efficiency, so that I can fit two video cards with two aftermarket coolers. On my board, there is one empty slot between the two PCIe slots. Thanks.
Thermalright HR-03 GTX on release unless it's out allready?

Besides even if the HR03 GTX was already out it doesn't meet his size requirements. I don't think I've seen a single aftermarket air-cooling solution for the GTX 260 & 280 though.

I'm still waiting for a compatible air cooler for my GTX280 as well. The HR-03GTX is supposed to be out this month, but I have yet to see any for sale. It's too bad the T-Rad isn't compatible with the 260/280, that would be a slick cooler for that card, with a nice low profile:cool:

I am waiting for Arctic Cooling in this. Why it takes 4ever to develop an HSF this card has been out for months already :)

Its going to be hard to make a better air cooler thats single slot... the HR-03 GTX would be better, but you're going to need good case ventilation :p:
I hope the D-TEK unisink can be made compatible with a HR-03, i really hate those ramsinks they give you, especially for the mosfets

instead of changing the coolers, how is the airflow in your case ? I had 2 280 GTXs in SLI and they loved airflow blowing in from the back end of the card. I put a 120mm fan where my drive bays were and let the airflow sweep over the cards. Saved about 10 degrees

I think the big issue here is noise (as well as heat)...
If I game for more than 30 seconds the GTX 280 fan spins up to unbearable noise levels, and that is with good case cooling....
Come on AC...
Work some magic! :)

I can assure you that the HR-03 is one of the best aftermarket cooler for a GPU.
I have the HR-03 GT on my overclocked 9800GTX (825-1200 speeds) and on 100% load it stays 41 degrees celsius!!!
