Afternoon Folks,

Anyone here familiar with the Lian Li TR-5 fan controller?
Here's a picture for those who haven't heard about it before:
http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upload/image/TR5/tr5001s.jpg (http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upload/image/TR5/tr5001.jpg)
http://lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=227&cl_index=2&sc_index=33&ss_index=81&g=f

I'm looking at getting a Lian Li PC-V2010B which makes a Lian Li fan controller all the more interesting so as to keep the same front panel look. However I'm wondering if anyone had heard if this was even available yet, if any reviews had been written and whether or not it's any good as a fan controller

For example, one of the things that bothers me is the rated 0.45A max per fan channel... That's really not that much, and with only 4 fan channels it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to split the fan headers to supply the 4 fans on the rad as well as the front intake and back exhaust fans (Yate Loon mediums, rated at 0.3A each).

Any thoughts?

Edit: I've changed my mind, going to go with the Scythe Kaze Master, I feel it fits more in line with the Lian Li design while also offering more power per channel (1A vs 0.45A) meaning I could use two channels with 2 fans each on the rad while keeping the other two for intake and exhaust on the case.

Funny how the lian li product doesn't tie in as well with thier own theem as the scythe does.

The scythe is really a classy controller.

Just wondering, how bright is the scythe? My sunbeam controller has LEDs that'll blind small animals. Maybe its toned done compared?

It won't be nearly as bright I don't think because it's just a bright (not backlit) LCD compared to ultra bright LEDs :P Some people have tried pushing the LEDs inside the casing of the SunBeam so as to not have them shine straight out... Can't remember where I saw that mod though.

http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=838521Be very careful with Scythe fan controllers! I have had bad experiences with their Kama Meter. It shut off and I had no warning because I was using Silenx fans at the time which are pretty quiet. My system darn near burnt up and I wouldn't have noticed had not run my G15 temperature monitor. If their Kama Meter can't handle fans with low power requirements then I don't have much faith in their other fan controller products.

Well it's really down to these three:

Sunbeam Rheobus Extreme: 30W/channel over 6 channels - Overly bright LEDs and poor build quality

Scythe Kaze Master: 20W/channel over 4 channels - Nice appearance but no heatsink on the mosfets

mCubed: 15W/channel over 4 channels - No appearance but best functionality, however lack of software updates over the last year from mCubed and the fact I would need to an extension to use a water sensor is a bit of a turn off.

I think my best bet would be a Scythe Kaze Master and take the time to attach some cheap heatsinks where it gets warm and ensuring airflow :)

...
Scythe Kaze Master: 20W/channel over 4 channels ...

Isn't the Kaze Master rated at 1amp max/ channel? I thought that mean 12v x 1amp = 12W/ channel.

I got that lian li fan controller it works good, I couldn't use fan controllers with knobs on the front because I have the cosmos case the front door would hit them.
If a fan stops or the temp goes to high the LED turns red and beeps.

It was the visual that made it for me. I was imagining 5 thirteen year old kids shouting "Pwned!" and "I is teh Bettar!" at each other, while hanging onto a gigantic computer case. Thanks for making my afternoon.

I really don't like the look of the Aerocool controllers though :/ Though I have to say this one is a nice idea :P http://www.aerocool.us/peripheral/fp-01/fp-01.htm

I love that scythe so far... No problems running 3 Yate Loons on my PA120.3

Its not bright at all, but easily readable in the day in bright sunlight.

Confirmed: Scythe Kaze Master = 1A/channel so 12W/channel. Using D12SM-12 Yate Loons at 0.3A I should be able to stick 3/channel for a total of 12 fans which should be enough ^^

I went on another search spree today for another controller but I can't seem to find a perfect one :/ I think I might just give the Scythe Kaze Master a try, insure it's got proper cooling and hope it holds :P
