well my vendetta 2 came today ( the new one the first one was all bent up when it got here) and i have some results...

at idle the temps are almost the same. the vendetta 2 is running at 37c the xig 1283 was setting at 39c so a 2c difference not bad imo the real difference is at full max loads!!! the vendetta 2 is almost 6-7c less than the 1283 was. i was bordering on 70c and now holding almost steady at 63c it bounce up a bit then down some but the highest quick blip i saw was 66c and only for a second. so i can def say the vendetta 2 outdoes the xig pretty well for those considering it!!!!

but I thought your Xigmatic was broken. Not really a fair comparison

there has to be a problem with that, they are identically the same except for the fin design. I just got a vendetta 2 and it's no cooler than my hyper 212. both benched in open air environment, and bolted through. I was expecting the vendetta 2 to be this ultimate cooler, but i guess not.

This why I don't like heatsink reviews. Way to many variables like base flatness, cpu, IHS, room temperature.

The reviews are not worthless if taken in total. One should base their decision after reading several different reviews. This provides a greater sample base and should help cover the margins of error caused by bad installs, poor surface, etc...

I just know that "consistantly" the reviews through a Google search for numerous sites concurn on the OCZ Vendetta 2. Several factors can come into play.

As for me, when using Everest Ultimate Edition and performing a stability test for 12 hours, I find the following rage. 32c idle - 56c load. Not bad for me. This includes it being in an older aluminum mid-tower case will little room (windowed door presses against OCZ so that groves are etched in the plexiglass) that has 80MM case fans (two front, one rear). Makes me wonder how'd it perform in an Antec 300 or even 900 case.

I think the fin dimples are REALLY working out well for the vendetta. They're basically on the same principle as the bent winglets of the TRUE, except executed even better.

I also think that someone should try replacing the stock OCZ fan with a P12 or a S-Flex. It might do wonders for performance .. and maybe not.

Yea true but way to many buy heatsinks expecting X temps when using Y volts.

i have the vendetta 2 running in an antec 900 now and the temps are the same as open air. Not really surprising because my hyper 212 ran the same temps in the case vs open air. As for the Sflex i was going to test that, but i only have the 1200rpm variant. It would lead to a drop in performance if anything.

If using thermalright bolt thru, make sure your file the little nipple (no sexual innuendo!) that goes through the mobo down.

haha i'm using a custom bolt through i made, but i think the results are correct because the hyper 212 i was using before was rated to be quite the cooler as well. I also inspected the contact of both coolers and they seem excellent with as5. Then again the vendetta 2 is about 100g lighter and offers the same cooling potential. The 100g is probably due to the 4th heatpipe and metal fan mounts on the hyper 212.

Today my interrior home temps where upwards of 85 degrees and the OCZ still had my system down around 40c during normal load. Impressive!!
