Could one of you fine gentleman post some kind of RAM timing settings guide? I have some Buffalo Tech ddr400 and want to set some optimil timings , but everytime I try my machine locks up.

Funny I can get my Barton to 2425, but cant do a thing with my ram.

I run 2-2-2-11 with cpu interface on (which is damn aggressive and limits my fsb max to 233), however u get fantastic bandwidth and efficiency scores

YEa, i guess it would have helped if I told you my setup

Gigabyte NForce2 400 Ultra (GA-7N400 Pro)
Barton 2500
Buffalo DDR400

As I stated I have gotten the barton to a stable 2425 (420 FSB) and need just a few more points out of my ram.

Everytime I try to set it myself it just sits there and beeps at me.

Up the ram voltage to the max of the board.

That might be holding you back.

Try cas 2.5
Ras to cas or TCRD at 3
Cas Precharge at 3
Cycle time at 7

These are conservative timings to start out with.

find the top at these timings then lower one at a time to see if it works. If one works, change it back so you try another.

Then try different combos

What is your Buffalo DDR400 memory rated for?

You might try running 2.0-2-2-11 or 2.0-3-3-11. Of course, you also need to increase the memory voltage to probably 2.7-2.8 volts. What memory voltage are you running now?

Oh yes you might have CH5 chips so always keep the
TRCD or ras to cas at 3. Less then 3 will probably cause you a lock up.

Thanks guys, I can tell this isnt going to be as easy as I thought. It will go below 3 but not when the FSB is at 200 or higher.

Im still trying different settings and when I feel one Im comfortable with Im sticking with it.

BTW.. anyone know of a program that will tell me the speed of my ram after I have booted into windows..?
