9775 is 1600fsb, 5000x/5100 are 1066/1333fsb only.

Can you lower the fsb (i.e. BIOS) of the 9775 and then run it on a 5100 board?

5100 is san clemente correct?
I think that uses DDR2-667 ECC REG, not the FBDimms
The chips might possibly boot in that but I wouldn't bet either way.
If not I have some E5450's that are 3000/12mb/1333 that should work..
Trade ya?:D

Sorry, I don't have one yet. This is my research before purchasing.

Related question. Would Qx9775 work with 667mhz memory (again with BIOS fsb change)?

Ok, straight talk, if you have $3200.00 to spend on the QX9775's then another $400-600 for the board, wait 2 months and do a dual socket Gainstown the the 3200EE's.
That will make these systems were' discussing look like P4 Netburst..:D

I avoided to say it in my first post, but as above posters hinted, the purchase of a Skulltrail is such a...nonsense imo. Money/performance/whatever...just a nonsense.

Timing is important here. If this was last march I'd say go for it but with Nehalem just around the corner I say wait..
Save your money, make a plan of what parts you will want besides the MB and cpu's, look for deals on case, drives, psu(good 750w+) vid,etc and then be ready when Nehalem makes it's appearance..
