So I'm probably going to buy an Asetek LS Phase Change cooler for my CPU, so I can mega overclock, since I've got 2500$USD laying around for my computer budget(i've done some saving. :yepp:). But, I'm nervous that my LS Phase Change won't fit the LGA1336, because the big number gives me the idea that it won't fit a big chip, rendering the life of my LS around 4-5 months making an investment of 900USD+(UPS ground charges are a :banana::banana::banana::banana:!) not worth it.

So my question to all of you Xs geniuses, will my LS fit an LGA1336.. Or would it be possible to mod it to make it fit, even though I'm a noob at modding?

I wouldn't put an LS on a Bloomfield CPU...even with the 16 phase power we'll see on the Asus boards...

Stick with water for Nehalem. Once the major OCers find a board that is stable with phase, only then should you go LS on LGA 1336. As of now and in the near future it is VERY untested territory seeing as how complicated the Nehalem chip will be (we have no idea if the IMC will play nice with phase).

It's not always the board that doesn't work under cold, most of the time it is the chip. Just for comparison, I was the first person to do any real testing with my vapo with phenoms to see what happened. Now I ward everyone away from going past 5C ambient water temp for water cooling because that's the peak temperature for overclocking. I know we won't have the same problem of getting people to test with nehalem, but we'll know as soon as people get overclockable boards for their es chips or within days of the launch.
