oki no worries, anyone else?

The 620HX is a great PSU but I highly doubt it can handle a pair of 4870s. If it can, you'd be running at max output.

I'd just throw the money at a second quad rig and CRUNCH :D

But seriously, why not just continue saving until next gen hardware is mainstream and the upgrade will feel like a real improvement??

the cosmos s is perfect
http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?act=detail&id=3947

but it's expensive and commonly used,
you'll want to mod it to stand out from the "look at me" scene crowd

I was about to say XClio Windtunnel... it is at a price I can't ignore, and I already own two XClio cases. For those two, you get what you pay for, perhaps a bit more. Not flimsy, all steel. Other than that, there's a $140 Chenbro case that I've been drooling over... grab 3 good Scythe fans and you quiet it up, or just run the stock fans (Deltas IIRC) at medium.

Other than that, I tend to recommend huge-fan steel cases or server chassis.

How about a Biostar TPower I45?

Id get the rocketfish case. I like its clean, minimalistic, industrial "boring" but elegant look :) Cheaper, bigger and better than most fancy cases out there imo.

Why not a shiny new Antec?

Silverstone TJ06 is still my personal fave, though I've never owned one....can't justify the cost of a pirty case.

I'd go with a water cooling setup and a nice case. That way you can make a nice project out of it and it's pretty rewarding when it's all done. You can get the most performance out of your expensive gear and most of the time reuse it when you upgrade. I would go with a D5 Laing Pump with variable speed, black ice pro II or III radiator and an apogee 2 waterblock. Just a thought!

Also get a P182 case and a door from peformance-pc's with it plexi'd out already. Makes for a great display of your water cooling work!

Ummm...25+ posts and no one noticed he's on a P35 mobo 0_o

Grab a P45 from Asus, Gigabyte or even Abit if you really like the company. If you have 500 pounds to spend, buying a better mobo should be first priority.

whats the best P45 mobo btw aswell?P45 has a host of new features and improvements over P35. Not the least of which is PCI-E 2.0, considering you're running your 4870 on a PCI-E 1.1 slot and probably not getting all that you can get from it (the 4870 is a PCI-E 2.0 card).

Here's the best price/performance one:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=818508
(MORE than enough even if you intend to take that Q6600 to 4Ghz)

And here's the one with all the doodads:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=818509

(Yes. Asus has the best P45 boards out there atm, bar none)

Along with that, grab 4Gbs of the best memory out there at the moment:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=782925

And you're done :) Use the rest of the money on The Dark Knight collectors edition mask for all I care :p: , the above is what you need to have a respectable system :)
