Hi folks,

My first post here so please go easy on me, tryin to tip-toe my way around here, but not sure where to head with all the overwhelming info all over the place of wich a lot goes way over my old head ...... lol

The "predicament",

I heave just got myself a brand new system build, specifically for using MS Flight Simulator X.

At this moment all settings etc etc are plain standard,

What I have :

OS~Windows XPproSP3 UKversion
case~Antec Performance One P182 (http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=81820)

What I'm looking for:

Not necessarely to blow the roof of my house of with this contraption, just some O'clocking and tweaking that it runs smooth and fast enough to handle the proggy, I've been told that this should run at 3,4 G or more ?

Hence why I went on a chase and landed here on your forums :D

At this moment I have the BIOS #0601 installed, but to be honest installing that one was just a shot in the dark, as on the Asus site there where 3 BIOS versions released on the same day, so I did a sort off "ini mini mine mo" and gambled that the highest number would be the right or latest one ...

Many thanks in advance for your help and guidance,

Thanks

Yeah someone who owns your board will pipe in but in general you want the "highest" number as thats the latest. However, I say in general because some newer ones may simply add support for hardware you dont have or features you may not need or even introduce bugs you of course dont want (with beta bios anyway).

Your cpu should be able to do 3.4 or even above with decent voltages (around 1.4). However be aware it has a rather small 7.5 multi so you need a FSB of 453 to just get 3.4Ghz. Not that your mobo can't handle that; just pointing it out.

You probably already found threads here for that chip but fyi i found a few good ones just searching here for "Q9300 Overclocking". Again folks who own your board can give you more specific tweaking information. Search for threads about it as well if you havent.
