Well I am at a loss maybe it is me maybe the mobo , hope you can some how help me out .
Most are getting the E8200's upwards of 4.0Ghz and well I have seemed to be stuck at 3.6Ghz ( not bad mind you just not what I want ) . I picked up some PC2-8500 1066MHz RAM Patriot and well the EVGA 680i will not boot up with this stuff inside at all I get the C1 on the LED panel and a long beep nothing after that . no matter what I do I can not get it too boot up . so I was wondering if this mobo can even handle 1066Mhz ram ? I know for a fact I had GEIL 1000 MHz ram in and it worked great but it was only 1 GB and I sold it . so can I get some help here ?
I need to know just what kind of RAM I can run, Can I get the 1066 in a different flavor ? here is the home page for the RAM .

And how can I get that coveted 4.0GHz on my CPU ???

the "supported" memory is more like "reccomended" memory, if boards were limited to it, boy we would all be introuble. I thought the 680i's did not support 45nm cpu's? maybe the ram is bad? did you try each stick seperate in all 4 slots?

Yep I sure did and no go . With a bios update you can run as high as the E8600 .

Are the clocks you've seen others get on evga 680i motherboards? That chipset kinda suxors for getting really high clocks.

Also I thought people were having a tough enough time reaching 4ghz stable with an E8400 let alone an E8200.

I am not sure about what others are getting with mobo because I have not seen any one with this mobo.

I can't run 500FSB on my Striker, 475 is the max (at least with reasonable voltages)... so be happy man with 450FSB and keep that baord cool...

If ya want more speed, get another mobo...

OK I picked up a 2gb kit of OCZ Nvidia SLI Performance RAM it is 1066MHz and works ! now I need to tweak it out some and see just how far this CPU will go with it .

And it's not because your motherboard and RAM can't overclock...that can't be it. No no, it's got to be bad advice people have been giving you.

Just get a new motherboard. Intel chipsets are preferred, P45 is a good one that consistently hits high FSBs. P5Q-Deluxe (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10008662&prodlist=celebros) is a good one.
