For 3dm05+3dm06 the cards were run at 690/1150 each
For 3dmVantage the cards were run at stock - because even the slighest overclock caused massive artifacting.
CPU was 450x9 for all tests.
RAM was 900MHz @ 5-5-5-15

This statement makes me feel really bad about my Q6600@ 3.6Ghz.....:(
To OP: Nice result you got there, I'm thinking of getting one HD4850 for my 2nd rig as well and OC it to heaven.

I just picked up two of these saphire cards myself. Can't wait to get them in my rig!

Nice results mate. Now I must decide if I should go single 4870 or 4850 CF :S

Sweet, I just nailed 20000 on my first run.

Great results!
The video card market is really heating up atm. new releases and price drops every other day making pulling the trigger so very very difficult.
This thread here has def. helped me on my decision path :D CF ftw!

can 700w handle 4870 CF?

Ended up going with a PCP&C 750W for the second rig I built... Handled the dual 4870's no problem.

are both CF Bridges necesary for the crossfire mode?
I mean, 3gpu crossfire needs 2 bridges, why 2gpus need also 2 bridges?
ANyone tried that?

Not necessary. In testing I noticed a marginal(1-2% difference) between 1 bridge and 2 bridges however such a small difference is easily within the margin's of error. I believe only 1 bridge is used to communicate.

Thanks Golemer, I might try it then. Tomorrow some 3D bench.

Im running 2x3870 with 1 bridge , i think its the same for 2x4850

Both bridges are there, so I installed them, it looks cool... Why not?
What are you GAINING by removing 1 bridge? Nothing.

Sure, many reviews have. Check neoseeker as one example. maybe tweaktown too?

He must be joking. I hit ~23k with a 4GHz QX9650 and cards at 690/1100. They are powerful cards

nah actually when I saw that post i looked harder at the picture and there's something superimposed on the score window. 'CPU score:' overlaps something.
I don't think it's an unrealistic result, and i don't think he faked it, but i think that's what led that guy to disbelief.

Why not?
I pass 20000 when Q66 in 3.701GHz (well in XP 32 the cpu score is much higher than in vista 64 about 300 to 400 points with shader 2.0 performance higher than one in vista) with 4850 CF in 660/1100, but cards shows some graphical error though it is still benchmarkable
so I think he OC it a little :yepp:
I can say his scores are about the same with my 3.7GHz 660/1100, BUT he said that all was on default

Guess you better tweak yours a litle more then, because that is with everything at default on mine. Funny thing is though that after I did that run I did go into ccc and raise the speeds to 700/1100 and 1100 and only picked up another 400 pts?wtf?

o i see
btw about the performance after you oc it i dont really know why it is happens, i got about 900 plus at 660/1100
