Wouldn't I have to worry about the heat generated by the power supply when it only has a "silent" 80mm fan?
I would think under heavy power loads or continuous loads it'd heat up quite a bit.
Wouldn't haveing 2 fans on a power supply be more efficient?

i gets hot but works just fine with dual 8800 gtx's and overclocked quad. the air coming out gets hot under load but i wouldn't worry.

Well efficiency and overclockability go down when there's more heat building up, I know it's not a bad power supply just wonder if there's a similar one that run's cooler.

the fan is temp controlled - it spins faster the hotter it gets - & thus becomes less silent ;)

The more load on the PSU, the higher the fan runs because there will be more heat that needs to be removed.

I am using the Silencer 750, my system is drawing around 200W (so the psu is kind of overpowered...), the fan is nearly silent at this load.

It's a great PSU, everyone is going to tell you that, the manufacturer (especially one so well regarded) wouldn't do something to it's product that would cripple it. That's just bad quality control.

I have2-PCP+C-610w silencers on 8 core clovertowns since Dec 2006 and those machines run at 100% load 24/7.. They draw a measured 421w from the wall, cool to the touch and solid as a rock.
I have a PCP+C 750w silencer on the newer 8 core Harpertown rig with a Leadtek 7800GTX in it. Haven't measured that one but also cool to the touch.
The 610's have been through at least 6 power outages and surges as the elec came back on and never an issue.
If I sound like a fanboy on them it is because they perform and thats what I look for in hardware.

The fan really isn't silent at all at higher loads. When an 80mm kicks in to move 50-60cfm, they get kinda loud.
Sound really isn't an issue for me... I would deal with that noise if it meant having one of the most stable PSU's on the market.

adding to that - if u (OP) are a gamer - yes the fan is loud-ish, but ur pc will probably only be under load when gaming.. u'll either have ur headphones on or ur speakers up, & that, I garauntee u, will drown out the fan! :D
