Anyone using red tracers with x38/x48 boards? (4GB kits - 2x2 PC26400 DDR2 800 2.2V 4-4-4-12)
I have an Asus P5EWS Professional and a few DFI X48 boards (LT/UT X48) and none work with this memory regardless of setting used, voltages, etc. Even stock it will give errors like crazy on memtest no. 4. :(
Put 8GB of this (4x2) in a Dell P35 based PC and no errors at all. I feel like breaking every stick in half at this point! The cheaper GS Kill stuff was far better IMO.

8fe5 sticks? or 16fd3? 2gb kits says 8fe5...which means that this mem has many issues with boards.
I run these rams on Maximus formula SE X38, with bios 1201 without issue.
Your other boards don't work due to bios issues, or improper settings, as shown by yourself when using the dell box(which prbably defaults to 800mhz 5-5-5-18...1.8-1.9v

The memory should work with default settings - other cheap ones do!
Here's the bag they come in

Those timings/speed look out of place. Of course on the P5EWS the same thing happens - 800MHz in BIOS yet it says 533 in memtest.

use memtest 2.01, 2.00 is bugged. This might be your problem.
fE5 is what's important, and yeah, they aren't the best sticks out there, but you should get 1066mhz 5-5-5-15-3-60-8-3 on X38, 2.05-2.2v. again, this is dependant on bios.
Don't obther with 4-4-4-12, you MIGHT get 433mhz. MIGHT.

No POST with those timings at 1066 and 2.2v. Yes 2.01 seems to report timings accurately now. Thanks.

two things cause no post, performance level, and bios, one of the two is your problem.

I'm convinced that these modules are totally junk. Out of six of them they all produce errors. Even at 5-5-5-18 timings! Performance level adjusted to 10 and they still produce errors! Unacceptable. GS Kill junk that costs half what these did work better with no errors and faster. I will cross off crucial from the list when shopping for mid-high grade memory modules period.
The sad thing is these worked at 4-4-4-12 at 1.9 volts when new two weeks ago. What brought about this troubleshooting was reboots, BSOD's and lockups. One PC has XP64 and the other Vista x64 and they both started acting up within a day of each other. Ram was not overclocked either which is a real slap when it's supposed to be "enthusiast" grade memory. Searching around the web finds similar stories so this is certainly not isolated. These will be returned for scrap or credit whatever my broker gets.

I have many sets of this ram, and thanks to proper bios, they work ok, but yeah, they are nothing spectacular.
Anyway, Crucial has invalidated these modules for most X38/X48 boards due to settings causing the ram to degrade. I have recieved modules with a new spd that don't seem prone to this problem, but i tihkn it's a combination of things that cause teh deaths.
Anyway, most good ram is crucial-based anyway...crucial is the commercial brand of Micron, and Micron has time and again been at the top when it comes to ram. Thier rma's are pretty good too..im fact I wish all RMA's went so well, so I'll deal with the occasional death to get the top performance.
