Hi dudes,

First of all here are the main components of my system:

MB: Asus Maximus Extreme
CPU: Intel QX9650
RAM: 4x 1GB Corsair DDR3-1333 (certified to run 1800MHz @ 2.0V 7-7-7-20)
GPU: 2x Sapphire HD 3870X2
PSU: Silverstone DA1200

I'm pretty new to over clocking and I want to see what I can get out of my system. I have no problems getting stable over clocks with my CPU, it's the RAM I am having trouble with. I try to run it at its certified OC settings and its totally unstable. The MB is also certified to run the RAM at 1800MHz but this dosent seem to be the case. What I want to know is the following:

1. Will increasing my FSB Strap help me? I've read a few times that it can, but it was best to keep it as low as possible, I understand it will also give me different CPU:RAM ratios when I change it.

2. I also read somewhere that although MB manufactures rate their MB as able to run 1800MHz RAM, it will only support that in a certain dimm slot, is it true? (I can't find any documentation, specific to my MB, that confirms or denies this).

3. If the NB can’t handle 4 dimms at 1800MHz will increasing the FSB Strap and some other voltages etc make it work? even perhaps a volt mod?

Thanks

How do you know that it is the ram giving you trouble?

Magic....
hahaha

I get errors in memtest when the only componant that is overclocked is the RAM - in past setups at stock settings all sticks passed memtest.
I am going to test each stick this weekend, I'll overclock it and run memtest.
