I am getting tons of crackling and popping using the realtek onboard sound. This is really crappy..especially with headphones. I have tried 1.1 and 1.2 bios's and the drivers off the cd, the ones on abits site, and the ones from the realtek site. NO change in my situation.

Is anyone else having this problem?? and if so, are there any workarounds?

I am really bummed out....the sound on my p4c800-e was sooo much better. No background noise at all.

Is it RMA time or should I wait for a bios fix?

Threw in a TBSC and the sound is fantastic now.........After wasting a whole day trying to find a workaround, not to mention the fact that the audigy platinum I had couldn't get recognized by windows during driver installs, no matter which ones I used(hyper threading\ audigy sound cards incompatability issue or bunk card) I am now maybe thinking this POS mobo was a mistake.

What driver were you using ?? I had the same issue when I downloaded a driver off the Abit web site. The driver that came on the disk worked fine.

I tried them all. The fact that the one on the cd caused the problem was what got me out looking and trying different drivers.

Are you sure you don't have the problem? It really isn't that audible over speakers unless you turn the volume all the way up, but if you put on headphones you can hear it big time. Even with low volume on the headphone it's there. This sux, because I use my headphones alot when gaming. I am loving this TBSC..the sound is great!

My Turtle Beach card is sitting in an antistatic bag in a spare computer parts room (unused). If I run into the sound problems, will be sure to install it on the Max 3.

Hey charlie....

Definitely agree with you on the TB cards. This is the first time I used one and I really like it!

My dog is a presa canario. Her name is senorita. They are pretty rare as most of them come from spain. They are kind of like pitbulls on steroids. Very big and aggresive. The males grow to 150+. She is already 120 and she just turned 1 :)

Nice charlie!

You are right,
they are distant cousins as presa's are part molosser breed.

French Mastiff's are my favorite breed. LOL...I am actually trying to talk my girlfriend into getting one for our next dog. My other dog is a male rott.

Damn, I kind of hijacked my own thread. Still no solution for my sound static other than a bad mobo at this time.

I had the some problem, no matter what I did the sound was filled with static. After I resintalled the drivers everything worked fine. Id rather use my Audigy 2 since it has many more channels than the on board and seems to use less of the CPU during games.

Having a similar prob with my new IC7-G. When I connect stereo up on optical out it pops every so often damn annoying! Never that these troubles with soundstorm on my NF7-S!
