Definitely disable it! I think I might give this bios a go. I noticed that my cpu clock fluctuates a tiny bit up and down. Is this what spread spectrum does? It has got to be causing instability.
Why in the hell would they not include this in their bios.....

because it lowers performance

i used big toes bios also, but coming from amd I always disabled it. How exactly is it hurting?

it reduces signal strength, so that nearby sensitive machines don't get affected

so then according to that you want it on full?

its good for showing 4ghz screenshots, but the performance will be like a 1.6PIV :p:

So then spread spectrum enabled is good?
I am a little confused. I thought spread spectrum enabled caused instability at high overclocks. I always kept it disabled on my p4c800-e and got great performance.

Actually, keep it disabled.
From what I've known for years about Spread Spectrum, it's that someone outside your place can aim a scanning instrument and know what youre doing on your computer. If Spread Spectrum is enabled your signal will be scrambled which will prevent the scanner from working, but from what I've always known that does hurt your overclock potential a bit.
The definite BIOS optimization guide is at Rojakpot.. http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=7&var1=18
Call me lazy but I didnt go back in there to check up again on Spread Spectrum, but you can go there to put your mind at ease if you want more than secondhand information.
