I can realy see some smart people in here, but I can not see any help in flash a radeon 4850 from floppy disk....
My 4850 card is dead, and I run on a PCI card right now...
I cant get winflash to work now, it worked yesterday and so on... I used it to flash my 4850 card and did so about 10 times... used it to flash the fan controll, and the 160/500 controll in 2d mode...
Anyhow... I installed Vista 64 and was about to flash my card one last time...
Then my computer went off in the middle of flashing in winflash...
So here I am, I can see my card in GPU-Z, but I can not read the bios with GPU-Z, I can see some info about the card, and my pc is sense the card.
My last try will be to get a boot floppydisk, that can flash it nomather what on my pc.
So I am looking fore some help with what type of program do I need in my floppydisk?
I have a bootdisk ready now, and I have my own original bios on it...
Now I need a program that can force flash it with my original bios...
Is that possible? And how and with what?

You need to use atiflash, theres a guide somehwre. Give me a sec.
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles//overclocking/vidcard/34/8
Also next time, make sure you always make a custom BIOS from an original BIOS. Also, atiflash is less likely to go wrong than winflash since theres nothing else running to interrupt the process.

I have 2 - 2900xt's that can't be seen with atiflash.

I have my original bios...
And I was custom my original bios....
The problem was that my computer went off during the flash in winflash =/
Think that kill my card... ?
Thanks for the guide, really, that one was simple to understand. thanks

The parameter -f does a force flash. So you're sure the adaptor is the primary adaptor, atiflash -f -p 0 BIOS.bin. That should do it if the guide I posted is correct. Also, make sure you're using the latest atiflash.

I dont know what ID my card have... the atiflash -i command does not work...
I just tried out -f -p 0 bios.bin command, and I tried out -f -p 1 bios.bin
both give the same result. =/
any idea what to do know and what to try now?

You need to run ATIFLASH from DOS.
Make a boot disk, and boot to a DOS environment before using the following command line:
atiflash -i
then:
atiflash -p 1 xxx.rom
Where 1 = adapter number, and xxx.rom = rom name.
You can NOT run atiflash from Windows. That's the problem.

Wow, thanks... can I try out various numbers like 0-2 where addapter number is, because I dont know what number I have on my card, all I know is that I only have one PCI-E spot and there is my broken PCI-E card nog, and then I have a old, very, very old PCI card that is nvidia....
And if I try out various adapter number, I think nothing more damage could happend, right? Like I am flashing the nvidia card or something...
Therefore I could try out som adapternumber, right? =)

The command:
atiflash -i
will give you the adapter number you're looking for. It will say RV770 next to it.
Use that number to flash, don't randomly pick one. ;)

I have no floppy... It would go with a cd or dvd to start from, right?

Yep, CD or DVD is fine, but a flash drive works well also.

The only I got now is a dvd....
But I am trying to find out to do a start DVD....
I can do a floppydisk, but I dont know how to do it on a cd/dvd...
I asume its not just to copy a floppy startdisk and burn it to a cd/dvd?

Use USB.
Find a basic dos boot image on the 'nets, use the "HP USB format tool" to make the disk bootable using your boot image files. Then put atiflash.exe on there, and your bios file. Select the usb drive in your bios to boot from it, and it will work perfectly.
I have flashed my 3870 over 100 times using this method.

in the future only use atiflash.
winflash is a great idea but is more risk than it's worth imo

At least I am going to stay off windows vista 64 and do it...
I have no problem with xp and winflash, but sure, a floppy or a usb and atiflash do it =)
I dont know if I am going to try to clock it a bit, I got my Accelero S1 R.2 today... The power and volt dont matter, that can be original for me, just want to clock it a bit...
Or I just go original with my card...

Glad to be of some help to you. :p:
Gurusan is correct - only use atiflash from now on... Much more consistent and reliable.

I think I will, if I am going to flash it more... that 160/500 bios is nice to...
But have one question about it... When I have ATI overclock on, it will work fine, but when ATI Overclock is off, my card is allways at 160MHz/500MHz
Are that ok, or is it strange?

Well, I use winflash. In the unlikely scenario that something goes wrong, I have an x38 motherboard and spare graphics card to correct things via winflash or atiflash if need be. It saves so much more time imo.

Well, I think my card has taken some damage after all, my crysis has start to crach, both with vista and XP.
I have try to run it in medium settings to, but it's crach with that to. Before my card went dead, I run Crysis with high settings, without problem in XP.
Today its craching all within 2 minutes and 20 minutes... my card does not get hotter then 80 in load. so it cant be overheating.
Think my little flash crach did some damage after all =/
I will try out some other games later, and btw, I could run 3dmark without crach today... so I am not sure its the card or something else...
damn its boring to not know whats wrong... =)
Is this with the original bios, or a custom?
Try flashing original original original bios to it and see if there are any problems. if not, great! take it from there.
if there are problems, then yea, your card might have been dmg'd a bit. =(
at least it works though!
