I just ordered a Saphire 4870.
What if the card dies within the year?
What if it dies within two years?
Has anyone ever dealt with Saphire?

sapphire will replace the card in teh 1st year for free, and should cover shipping, but affter the warranty your out of luck

Sapphire charges for RMA repairs/replace $35. Takes anywhere from 1-5 weeks. My replacement cards have always been really good cards though...

How's the Asus warranty? I kinda want an Asus HD4870, but I'm waiting for them to become available.

I've got an ASUS card in RMA right now. Was very simple getting an RMA number and return auth. from them. As for how well it goes, I'll let you know. It's only been gone 3 days and isn't scheduled to arrive in CA until Wednesday. ASUS said they'd have a turnaround on the card of no more than 5 days....so we shall see.

This is the only ASUS RMA I've ever attempted (only ASUS failure I've ever had) and I've used ASUS products for years.

Sapphire charges $35 for an RMA? Is that in the first year or after the first year?

Whenever warranty is valid. Cards are mailed to Taiwan for repair/replace, the charge covers the shipping and duty if a new card comes back, as well as stops people not giving a legitimate RMA. If your RMA is denied, you get your cash back.

I've had many cards die, but ATI cards I tend to have running FAH, so I tend to use them a tad bit harder than the average joe. I have RMA'ed everything from X800 up.
