Awesome, I knew it was just a matter of time.

sweet card, any plans for crossfire?

I hope he not only modify the BIOS without any voltmods

@jimmyz : yes maybe next weeks :)
@ZoLKoRn : thanks Paizol....:)
@quake6 : set VGPU 1.52 idle .....:)

only 1000Mhz from 55nm with DI??
Any confirmation that power circuitry holding it back.. ie HD4870 has 2 PCIE connectors...
Also, has anybody tried looser GDDR3 timings...??

Glad to see some serious clocks coming out of RV770, cannot wait to see what you guys can do with some time :up:

1100MHz might be possible with ~1.65v. Give me a week or so, need my F1EE + dewar :yepp: :D

I think these results just about confirm that the HD4850 is reaching its limits when vmodded. Perhaps it is the power circuitry or lack of an extra 6pin connector as Deimos suggested. It looks like beyond 925MHz or so, you need to get cold to get any further, and it doesn't seem like its by much. Gurusan, Jamesbong, and myself seem to be stuck around this 925-950MHz ballpark. Hopefully we can come up with some more mods to give the 4850 longer legs. Hazzan, you are at 1.52v idle, which means load is probably 1.57v if your 2D/3D volts are set to be the same value in bios.

Keep up the great work, hopefully you hit 1100MHz!!! :)
Try doing the vmem mod as well, because the chip is really bandwidth starved once you get those core speeds up

Might just need cap mods like the 2900's did.

Good job Hazzan :) Any heat problems on the PWM area?

Nice benches...

But scores are low... My e8500 4940 mhz with 2 3870 (single gpu not x2) with 875 mhz core made 31500k on 3dmark 05...

Something is lowering your score.

Find it and keep on pushing this vga!

At those sorts of voltages you leave the voltage regulators bare? They must be screaming hot.

I think memory is bottlenecking :yepp:
definitely yes :cool:

@Morais : no problem with heat on PWM area still cold

@xt0m : I make self GPU pot he he he he

I thing this core can run higher than 1000 I will try this weeks

that is the difference between crossfire and a single card the OP is still running a single card vs 2 of yours.

great results, it certainly beats a GTX280

Great to see 1000mhz possible on these cards like it was on the 3850's. When does OVP kick in? IIRC its around 1.7v on the 3850.

You maybe able to close in on 1100Mhz. What were temps like with the DICE?
