I noticed some new smp wu's on the proj summary page... 5101 and 5102...

I haven't seen any yet to get a fahmon ppd reading... but after some reading found some prelim info.. and it looks like these are linux smp wu's (so far, crosses fingers) and ppd value is cut in half from a 3065...
just a heads up...

Aye, P5102 seems to be poorly rewarded if compared to, say, P3605. Well, at least on Xeon E5335 here.
For instance:
P5102
- 1104 PPD [unit completion takes ~2823 minutes real time and ~9735 minutes CPU time --> CPU usage factor ~3.45]
P3065
- 2020 PPD [unit completion takes ~1528 minutes real time and ~5106 minutes CPU time --> CPU usage factor ~3.34]

Crosses fingers indeed! My folding farm is all linux :). Actually, it may soon happen that the majority of my PPD will no longer be from the farm...until they make a linux GPU2 client :).

oh its not that dramatic or suspenseful...the windows gpu2 client is so many PPD that it would only take one or 2 more machines up and running to beat my whole cluster. I look forward to my %age of team PPD dropping like a rock!

p.s. - I just returned from scanning the news board - whoops! Looks like you put your foot wrong. best not to say anything even remotely negative (even jokingly) about wcg on XS. it can go bad in a hurry.

Will this be the third thread in which I offer an apology he? I really thought it was the thread here and I just thought hey what's that. I think if I did that in their section they would have said the same. Though I did use the wrong intonation, should have choosen my words better though in essence the message would be the same. Sugercoating is something which doesn't come natural to me, don't know if that should make me sad or not.

Edit: just read your original post again and it looked to me you were saying your output would no longer come from the farm which I interpret as you having an alternate production capability in mind. This time I did read to much into it Angra he, nm must have been me :)

And don't you complain, I think I will sooner start loosing places then gaining them in this team but I don't really care. You got still some headway on the pack, you can hold em off a whole lot longer  :wtf:

Marvin,

no need to apologize here, my friend. It's obvious to me you were having good natured fun and also that you got confused about which forum you were posting in.

I was just making fun of you for "crossing" the powers that be. When interacting with WCG, it goes easiest if you just lay low and try your best not to accidentally offend.

I don't see why it matters since it will affect EVERYONE'S point values and this is medical research, so who cares?

Lots of people fold for points(plus it might just be Linux so if won't affect everyone....hopefully!:D).

And no need to dog on them for it either because if it wasn't for them, we'd be in this alone.

Sometimes, well actually allot of times, I'm missing UnG now and Pythagoras. They could get away with saying more then I can ;) I never try to offend, I often go out off my way to avoid it but alas sometimes things happen. Hopefully I won't suffer any negative consequences on this incident, I don't think they will really use it against me.

The wcg team is a good bunch off people, pasionate about their own pet project and I can apriciate that.

Indeed, never forget the competition aspect of DC, it's the reason it's a succes in many ways. All people are born with the drive to compete, give them a challenge and they will rise to conquer it it's just human nature.

I fold for the cause not the glory but do I check my stats, sure I do. And do I do it only to check if all is well, or do I get some pleasure seeing how I pass people and even more important does it pleasure me if my folding causes others to increase production to hold on their places, sure it does. It's a continous changing situation and if you don't look for what makes you feel good about it you will never be able to keep it up. And percevearance is the thing needed the most.

True, I always forget that's why most people fold. So come on guys. I'm I just started and surpassed over 400 of you guys on the team. CATCH UP!

You were on my rader but siince the gpu2 client began spewing point you're no longer there.. who needs to catch up here :D

Seriously, I forsee more people passing me here on XS ( Darnit BENCHING SITE... and we haven't shown even a 50% increase like some other teams... We CAN do better I know it in my guts... will wait for the finalized client though I hope but that's another story ) then I will passing myself but who cares even that gives me pleasure since I know their points mean a great contribution to science.

You see, competition aspect doesn't even have to mean you enjoy winning, I can enjoy being the team's last man if what I see ahead of me makes me glad to be a part of it
