Does the Ati 4870 transfer Audio as well ?

Hi to get straight to the point I am unsure as HDMI can transfer Audio and video if the 4870 would be able to transfer Audio to my AMP in any way ??

or is it just 100% graphics only ?

It transfers either 5.1 or 7.1 over the HDMI port. My old 2900XT can even do 5.1...
