I have an 8800 GT that I killed awhile back and I'm wondering if there is any way to fix one thats had water damage. I was setting up my StrikerII extreme and my waterblock leaked all over the video card. I unfortunatly didnt notice the leak until the next day so it sat on all night with power to it. After drying the thing out, I reinstalled it and It actually boots up fine with the card, the only major problem is that I have green pixles all over the place. Has anyone ever done any major repair on video cards? I'm very profficient at soldering, and I'm wondering if theres any doumentation out there on video card repair, or if anyone has any suggestions as to where I could start trying to fix the thing.

A++ certification training will teach you how to solder and such.

I think it's well past soldering...you could try cleaning it again with electrical contact cleaner..that worked for me once.

Yeah like I said above soldering isnt the problem. I'm going to try cleaning it all off tonight and see what happens.

I scrubbed a video card with water and a toothbrush, then rinsed it off with isopropyl alcohol. Dried it for a day and it worked fine... prior to that every so often it would flash a screen of ascii characters.

Hmm, the card is probably dead. Last week i had condensation problems, not enough isolation. My motherboard looked a bit white because of lime i think. I had to clean my motherboard with alcohol to get it working again.

I'll try the water/alchol idea. I think there is some corrosion that may be distorting the image. Its probibly shot but I thought it would be worth a try rather than just throwing it away. If I can salvage it I might be able to use it for a secondary rig.
