They are in water-cooling cases so I guess it is ok here . . .a stretch but such is life

Check out this week's builds (all air-cooled):
The pictured DD Waterbox is to run one of the 40" LCDs in my lobby , , ,there is a second same LCD that runs HD cable . . .the box will run BR/HD DVD movies and Powerpoint and other presentations. It has the Gigabyte mobo.

The other one is in a Danger Den Tower 21 case also green and clear and has the Asus mobo. Both have Q6600s. This rig is for my mother-in-law to replace her P4 Dell.

I like zahlman (used them back in the day when I air-cooled gaming rigs). Neither of these will be oc'd. Now you want to talk about how bad Zalmans are I will do it the XS way and just give you numbers:

Rig (except it had two air-cooled 3870 X2s in Crossfire X):

Temps right around 50 c or so . . .not bad at that OC and really poorly amounted as I did not take time to do it well and no lapping or anything. I know there is better but for these rigs at stock these coolers will be fine. If I was worried about temps could do water at the drop of a hat . . .expense makes no difference . . .hell I have enough spare parts to do it now.

I liked the way they look to be honest . . .well, the other ones are too tall for this application . . .otherwise I would have used one that looks like a butterfly or something like that . . .yes I am an attention ho . . .

The Zalman's are maybe 2C less than the TRUE's but for looks can't be beat.
If I was building a "showcase" system that is what I'd use..:D

those zalman 7700 series are really not that bad, they do provide some air flow to other parts of the mobo besides the cpu, but it is sometimes a pain to it and to install the 12V mobo connector, and its big... lucky their 9500 series are more upright...

no real problems with those setups, good medium to high end air cooling should be good enough for Mom in law...
