Looking for ideas as to why my GPU is folding so slowly.
According to FAHmon, I'm getting anywhere between 2700-2900ppd on an 8800GT @ 700/1750/2000. I've seen people with lower clocked 8800GT's getting 4000ppd+. I'm folding on my CPU as well, but when the CPU SMP client is shut down, at max usage, the GPU only runs my CPU up to 30%. So I set in the GPU settings to let it only use 30% of my CPU and that's what it does, happily.
I'm still on the first beta release of the GPU client because no one has reported ppd increases after changing clients.

1.
Give your GPU more cpu
2.Right click on FAH icon, select pause when done
3.
Go to Con. panel uninstall fah gpu (after is paused)
4.
install the new version
report back here on any(lack of)progress

What drivers, and what OS are you running? This seems to be the deciding factor. Older drivers compared to the 177.35 drivers might as much as halve your potential PPD, and the client for some odd reason seems to be more CPU hungry in XP than Vista.

XP Pro 32bit, SP2, running the 177.35 drivers
Upon further inspection, I have the GPU set to use 70% of the CPU if needed. It never gets that high, so the CPU takes up the slack.

Slide a quad in it and have 2 cores of cpu folding a SMP and the other 2 feeding the gpu. Everything at 100%

Strange taskman here shows smp cores 25% 3 of em the other 23% and fahcore_11 from the gpu taking on just 2%? PPD from the gpu is 4K so it's working alright I guess :)

^ Maybe going in and setting GPU2 priority to "Slightly higher"

It already was and if I close smp, the Iddle process get's 97% ;)
Think it because of Vista, noticed before with the old ati client the cpu usage under vista was way way way lower then under xp. Thought the new driver model had something to do with it but not sure.
