Same price ...what should I do ?

Bought 2x 4850 @320 total. 1x4870 will cost the same.

Find a review of the 4870 that bench's the games you play and 3dmoark, and the compare to benchmark your 4850's in the games you play (on same settings as 4870 review was done on), and 3dmark.

Whoever scores better is the better price/performance :)

anything less than 16x PCIE 2.0 severely bottlenecks 4850's in crossfire, go look at the anandtech review. it shows x48/x38 doing around 30% better in all cases

you can get 8x pcie 1.1, which is half of what anandtech compares to x48(p45 pcie2.0@8x) I would definitely go with the 4870 in this case.

the bandwidth would kill performance so bad :(

thats comparing 8x pcie2.0(=16x1.1) and 16x pcie2.0(=32x1.1)

you can do 8x1.1 which is 1/4 of x48

-> 1 x HD4850 (imho, a 4870 would be waste of money, but if you prefer so...)

Yeah you don't really see any awesome CF results if your resolution is below 1900. Therefore I would suggest the 4870 but you might take the 5fps hit and go for the 4850.

i agree with you guys, there will be a fix for the 700mhz lock soon so i dont see much advantage other than res and filters vs 4850

maybe the reviewer is biased toward 4850cf :hrhr: but 4850 cf looks convincing to me, @ it's very reasonable price.
no doubt there are situations where a monster card will do better than 4850cf, but the above graphs show 4850's handling 19x12 very well....with 4870cf giving 1-2 fps more  (which i would have expected more from 4870cf as it performs significantly better than a single 4850; maybe 4870cf botlneked by something?)
