exactly the same sort of issue. I know that SLI works just fine as enabling and disabling has effect on performance and the card is getting power just fine.
3DMARK06
SLI ENABLED : 13500 SLI DISABLED : 10000
So the card seems fine. But I think the motherboard is causing the issue because those scores are way down and so is general game performance. I've reinstalled XP but this didn't help. So I think in some way the P5B Deluxe is causing bad performance for this card?
Does anyone else have a GX2 with this motherboard (this might be a long shot)

What operating system are you using? I was using XP x64 and XP x64 was detecting a second monitor on the other GX2 core even though I didn't have one and my 3dmark06 score was 13k even with SLI enabled. I installed Vista X64, and now I get 17k, Vista only shows one monitor. I think it's a conflict between SLI and XP thinking that the 9800GX2 is two separate cards and assigns a second monitor to the other one.
I don't have the same motherboard, but check your Display properties and see if there is a Second monitor... I'm having trouble with this too.

Hey there
This is what dev manager shows

You are right there are two monitors installed but I only have one both monitors are assigned to the GX2 and show up in display properties with one monitor disabled. Should I uninstall the monitor or...?

I don't know you could try... I would like to find a solution for XP though I only have Vista installed right now.
I'd love to go back to XP because I like the feel of the OS and it would also raise my 3dmark score if the SLI bug is fixed .
Is this problem really not that prevalent because there has to be other XP/GX2 users.

Crysis performance is also abysmyl for me no matter what SLI mode I use it runs like utter crap. I've tried down to 175.16 drivers. It's running worse than my overclocked GTS at the moment.
Getting about 30FPS AVG everything maxed 1280x1024.
Shocking performance in Crysis.

P5B has a problem with 1x PCI express
check under CPUz motherboard tab ;)

Yea I heard of that problem but my PCI-E is 16x always I've not had the 1x issue for ages :)
Something is weird I've tested FEAR and CSS they seem spot on regarding scores but Crysis and 3DMark are a no go with the latest drivers and XP.
So weird.

Return the GX2 and get a GTX then........move to a Quad-Core if possible.
Remember that dual gpu (sli in a way), will never play fair in Intel chipsets, mainly because nVidia WANTS YOU to buy their POS nFarce chipset.
There was never an issue with the 7950GX2, only recently but it's all driver issue probably, drivers rigged not to play fair with Intel chipsets.

I get 13587 with my GTX, mind you that I'm running an E6600 at 3.15ghz and I'm sure "IF" I were to run it at 3.60ghz and a GPU core of 800mhz? The score would be slightly higher. BUT! So far that's what I got.

Not really helpful Nasgul :p
I've had a GTX long ago. Still trying to find someone with a P5B DLX and a GX2 to see if the board is at fault.

hmm so it works for some things and not for others
that IS weird hehehe >> have you tried upping the PCI express frequency

Well that's just the strangest thing ever..
So I finally found out why I was having bad performance mainly in DX9 XP. Reason is I had my core overclocked to 710.
At that speed I got 13k which was pretty weird. So I was having a mess about and decided to LOWER the clock to 700.
I then fired up 3DMark and BAM. 120 FPS at the start bit, I knew something was now working properly.
My final score came out at 18964 @ 700/1800/2100 as opposed to 13k @ 710/1800/2100

Crysis now also performs better as do most other games. I can only presume it's some sort of bug with some setups when you go over a certain core speed it completely gimps performance or at least a good chunk of it.
Loser777 I suggest you try lowering your core speeds in XP this may work for you also..

Nah, I made sure my stuff was at stock when I ran the tests. Thanks though.
couple months ago when i did local review, i experienced this lack of performance of GX2, but in my case in vista 32. Using SP1 with the latest updates, drivers in vista GX2 doesnt show its "normal" horsepower unlike in XP on my DFI LT X38. But when i borrow 790i from a friend of mine, everything "works" fine. I dont know what happen, cant explain either.
Anyway, plugging 2 monitors wont affect your performance significantly...so u dont have to worry if windows detect 2 monitor plugged. Because daily i used 2 displays & still feel comfortable
