View Full Version : Another sticky pad for Swiftech pump?

I have the Swiftech MCP655 and cannot find another black sticky pad for it. I really need one because I am putting all of my stuff in a new case. I don't really think I want the clear gel pad from Petra because I need self-adhesion. Where can I get one like the one that comes with it?

Also, any advice on mounting a radiator in the top of a case? I have no idea on the best way to cut the semi-rectangular hole in the top without making it look really ugly.

I simply used an Old Mouse (neoprene) Pad :Cut into shape: - and Hot melt glue gunned it into position.

Hope this helps!

Here's a link for a cheap one for ya! :) http://shopping.yahoo.com/s:Mouse%20Pads:3149-Material=Neoprene (http://shopping.yahoo.com/s:Mouse%20Pads:3149-Material=Neoprene)

Rob's advice is winner!

i dont use any pads. i just go out to the market, buy a regular open cell breathable sponge and sit it on top of that.

The bottom gets too hot to leave it closed like that.

The same double sided adhesive sticky pads (in white color) are sold at your neighborhood Radio Shack (the brand is 3M). They work well with kitchen sponges.

I just used "industrial strength" velcro strips that I bought from the local hardware giant.

These things are amazingly strong, I swear I could mount the pumps upside down from the top of the case (with full res's attached) and they'd stay put.

Plus the "furry" part of the strip is thick enough to provide vibration dampening for me.

I used some neoprene I had left over from a waterchiller experiment. Worked fine.

I put duct tape over the sticky part of the stock pad so it is not sticky, and then use the screw holes to mount it in place, with rubber washers for some damping. I like the idea of being able to easily relocate the pump.

I also used the industrial strength velcro when I first put mine in. I have since drilled a third whole in the base and and bolted it down, I ended up using the thick padding that came with one of my motherboards to eliminate any noise that might be caused by vibration. That is on my MCP655 btw.

Velcro seems like an awesome idea. Reason my *HIGHLY ANTICIPATED* WD 640gb 2-platterer isn't in 2mos post-purchase is because I cannot move my pump. Velcro should be great for this. Thanks again, guys!
