I have
2x2GB Corsair 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 DDR3
DDR3 OCZ Platinum 1333mhz 7-7-7-20

(think those r the specs not 100% on the timing)

Can i use all 4 modules together for 8GB in Win64? I did try this when my mobo was working and it detected 8GB on bios, is there any problem with doing that?

Should be able to, but you'll have to play with timings and voltage. It certainly won't be what I'd call a performance setup though.

As long as we're on the subject though, *unless* you have a *known, specific need* for 8GB of RAM - don't bother. I personally run 8GB for emulations, but aside from when I'm making specific use of a lot of it, I don't think I've come close to using more than 4GB. Having RAM that you're not using doesn't give you any added performance, but lowering timings/frequency does negatively affect it.

thanks for response,

So 4GB of Corsair would be fine?

The OCZ has lower timings but dosent work alone on the 790 board for some wierd reason. Ill start with 4 and see how O/C it a bit compares and my RAM usage.

yeah the Corsair will be fine; just checking, but you do know that you needa have a 64bit OS to use more than 3.5GB of ram right? If you don't have a 64bit OS, then I would only install 2GB for XP, and 3GB for Vista, IMO.

I have 2x1GB OCZ Platinum on my ASUS Maximus MoBo, and it loaded 1333MHz at 6-6-6-20 1T timings!! I didn't even have to do anything to it.

Tom's Hardware did a write up about turning page filing off when using 8 GB of Ram in Vista 64. This stops the OS from writing temp files to hard drive and makes system respond quicker. If you do this with less than 8GB, OS can crash.
