Going to 8GB's in the next day or 2 when my ram arrives.
Formatted and installed Vista 64bit was running 32bit with no performance issues.

So now network speeds are way down, file copy ( ie USB to hdd) are slow a the second comming of christ.
I just moved a 128MB file from my hdd to my USB and it took 9 mins:shocked:
I then tried to move a 700MB divx file to my nas and it took 30 mins, hell I can dl it from the net in 5 mins.
Extracting files are alot slower as well, quick par is slower to repair files, as long as I'm not accessing the hdd it runs smooth, oncehdd activity is up everything slow down sometimes there is even a "pause" b4 things start to get going. I've been googling the problem and cant seem to find any info on the subject other than turn off remote differential compression.

I have the latest drivers from intel
Chipset 9.0.0.1009
Matrix Storage Manager 8.2.0.1001

Whats wrong and can it be fixed?
Advice, suggestions please

Stupid question, but do you have SP1 installed. I know that file transfer speeds got a lot faster with SP1 - everything moves from HDD to HDD extremely fast for me...

Yes I should have mentioned that

SP1 is installed and all updates are current.
32bit was fast and reliable
64bit is not so , this is very frustrating

Can I install Asus over top ?

I have installed Vista x64 a few times by now and every time the first thing I do is turn the following off ...

1. Indexing
2. Superprefetch
3. System restore

I then install all the drivers and programs and then turn on 2+3 again. Then Superprefetch goes to work and starts 'optimizing' the files. This takes a while but when it's done Vista runs pretty smooth.
If i don't do this, installing drivers / programs is a pain and takes forever due to the insane amount of disk thrashing 2+3 is causing on a fresh install.

I have both Indexing and superfetch diabled, would say there is a benifit to running superfetch?
