Raid question

I have a 250 wd hard drive and i was wondering which would be better: getting another one and setting a RAID 0 array or selling it and buying a single 500 GB new one, the question reffers to performance.

In terms of sheer throughput, I would suspect the 2x 250GB drives would be better (but to confirm, perhaps post a shot of HD Tach/Tune on it - these new drives are doing near or over 100MB average reads, older drives might not pull ahead by much). Scalability lends itself to the 500GB drive though.

If you are planning on doing something like video encoding or other tasks that involve reading data, processing it, and writing new data though, you'd be best off going with two drives and not RAIDing them but rather reading from one and writing to another.
