I just built my first computer this weekend. Everything went welll until I installed the nvidia drivers for my 9800 GTX. Halfway through the install it bluescreened with a stop error: 0x0000007E. It would then reboot and bluescreen continuously. Even in safe mode the system was very unstable (no OCing yet). I was using an eval copy of Ultimate x64 with SP1. I reinstalled the OS several times and got the drivers from nvidia and evga, but every time it bluescreened. Then I tried a volume license of Vista Enterprise Edition without SP1 (which took half the time to install) and everything is working perfectly. I do however want to get ultimate eventually for the media center and other features. Does anyone know a solution? Is SP1 or Ultimate causing this problem?
BTW all my OS's were legal and genuine before you ask.

I had temerature problems with vista and evga9800,NO FAN SPEED UP and graphics overheat and bluescreens.
(direct10 and speed of comp was enemy of my graphics crisys etqw at max)
I program newest bios i can find on net for my graphics, and now i can run stuff without bluescreens.
(Im saying that nvidia makes bioses and chips then sell to manufactures with errors.....)
You can dl that files to program/fix from my site too.

Hi,
Can you give more details about your system: Motherboard, ram (model, amount) and other peripherals. Maybe it's the combination of one the hardware and your vga card.
Yeah, more info would help...
Im running vista+sp1 64-bit with an evga 9800gtx with no problems whatsoever...
What driver are you using? the latest beta or whql one?
Im using the 177.41 version but they released the .66 version this morning...
Good luck!
