Nice results 4Qman, and a good clean benching setup. MSI is getting better and better it seems. 550fsb prime is really good.
Could you send me a copy of the bios? I'm doing some MSI p35 bios modding, and need to rip some features of the P45 board.
I can't find the bios on MSI's website?
Nice 4Qman!
Thats some good improvement over the P35 Platinum! 550fsb Prime stable is very good

The board is very fussy with GTL Ref settings.
sirphoenix Here are some bios screens for the above 550FSB stability for request via PM. I tried many other and these was best for 550FSB with 2008-05-20 the bios i was using. I must try latest bios soon

thank you for your bios settings
unfortunately those are not working for me - not even at 500 or 450 MHz FSB.
every time I try to go above 400 MHz FSB / RAM the system won't boot showing me the "Memory Detection Test" error (red-red-green-red status LEDs).
I'm pretty much out of options as of how to get my board above 400 MHz as I tried countless different settings of voltages, fsb/ram dividers and ram-timings.
how do I figure out if I have a faulty board or RAM or even CPU?
my specs again:
MSI P45 Platinum (exactly the same as above)
Intel E8400 (Q810A037)
2x 1GB OCZ PC2-9200 Reaper HPC Edition

I switched both the Motherboard Jumpers onto the next row along as seen in the middle of the picture below.

Sirphoenix have you tired this with the settings shown also?

yes I tried different Jumper-Settings, none of them changed anything in terms of OC.
however MSI has provided me with a brand new beta bios (v1.1) which does now correctly read out my memorys SPD.
but still not getting anything above 450 MHz stable.
I cannot even run my DDR2-1150 MHz RAM at more than DDR2-900 MHz with FSB and CPU at stock speeds :(
in a few hours a buddy will drop by with some replacement ram-modules, maybe that'll help.

let us know how you get on with the ram. The board is extremely fussy with GTL settings so play with them some more.

we just tried lots of ram/board combinations:
my reaper modules on his older P5K board went above 550 MHz without big efforts - so the ram is fine.
his weaker corsair ddr2-800 modules also worked fine on my platinum board however we could not push them beyond 450 MHz on either boards which I think is fine for those standard modules.
so I am now going to switch RAM modules for some "standard" PC2-8500 modules and see if I anything changes.
if not - the board is damaged
if it works with the new ram I think these reaper-modules are just not compatible with the p45 platinum.
any suggestions on some good (but not too expensive) DDR2 OC-ram?

Hi why did you use so much ICH voltage 1.94v:shocked: is it realy needed?!

Gligy, i was testing various voltages and settings. I have attached images for 500FSB stable below.
The latest beta bios is MASSIVE improvement.
500FSB "Bios images Attached"
Please note this is using Beta Bios v25.0b13.
I have been asked via email by a few members to supply bios settings showing 500fsb. Of course this isn't the same on every setup however its easy achievable.

Now I see auto on ICH :)
I'm personaly fooling around with the p45d3 platinum (virtualy the same board but with ddr3), and having big time PITA with memory - tested 3 different Corsair kits with Micron and Samsung chips.
Also have the feeling it's not setting the voltages right, as above 1.32v CPU the board doesn't boot at all.
P.P. Also using beta bios supplied two weeks ago by MSI, I should check for newer version.

Weid thing here with P45D3 Platinum, does not boot with anything over 333MHz, damn.
And all voltages must be at auto setting.

I've got this mobo coming tommorow from OcUK, hopefully it works, always a risk with B Grade!!
The Bios baffles me would anyone be able to overclock? I've got an E8500 coming for it, apparently can do 4.5Ghz at 1.45V as its a used one allready tested.
Its got 2GB GeIL PC6400 going into it and 2GB Ballistix PC5300, allthough to overclock I'm thinking just sticking the Ballistix in untill all is stable.
Thanks
