The driver forum is reall dead so I thought I would post this here, if mods think it's wrong then please move it.

Anyway, 3DChipset has the nVIDIA 51.75 drivers up for download.

No great results on the driver front then, but nVidia are going for the national hole digging championships by the looks of things.

*peers into darkness*

"Go nVidia!!!"

What the hell are they thinking over there. I guess they have hired a bunch of grave diggers in diguise as driver writers.

Maybe one of the FX5800's got loose and the intense heat congealed their brains?

I'm game, so will try them. Ti4200 though, won't do much to reflect the card you "well-off" guys run ;)

(Edit) Still looking, when trying those links I'm getting "Permission Denied" and "After receiving some emails from Andrew (European PR Manager for nVidia), we decided to pull down the Detonator 51.75 driver because this driver is not ready to go and is absolutely not ready to be installed on any machine yet. Andrew doesnt know exactly where its coming from, but nVidia released this driver to some hard- and software firms just for testing purposes, since theyve changed some interesting things for the 50.xx driver series."

I installed them on my gaming rig (see below), no noticeable change in quallity or performance. I've not run 3dmark, but I've got nothing to compare it with anyway.

Can't decide which one has better IQ even though the difference is huge :)

The sub that is close looks much more detailed on 5900, but the whole picture is much darker on 5900.

I am in aggreeance with you man... it is hard for me to decide which is better... but if I saw both without the Cards names I would havetold you the 5900 was the best....

In the 9800 the items like the smoke don't blend in too well, sticks out like a sore thumb.

It's partially the shadows on the 5900 that make it look much more realistic... it's not really darker IMO, it seems that there's just much more variance in the shadows on each object. That makes the 5900 frame look a lot better than the 9800... not to mention the more-detailed rocks and surface textures in general. Simply put the ATI looks blurry :( (I am a 9800np owner)

This after all this talk about ATI's superior IQ and the HL2 debacle? Aquamark utlizies DX9 right, what's the difference between this render and HL2?

Perhaps NVidia is the victim here? Sounds obsurd, but stranger things have happened... perhaps this was orchestrated. I know I will be telling this to my fellow geeks in class.

Or perhaps the screenshots were taken using increased quality settings for the 5900?

Maybe nVidia's marketing team (read: wallet) has been brought into play again? :D

Since we are talking about IQ and the Det 51.75.

Can anyone please explain to me what they are complaining about in this article? :am:

I have spent 20min reading carefully and looking at the pictures and I still don't understand why I should never buy another nVIDIA card

In that comparison link the 5900 is unquestionably producing a much cleaner more detailed image.

But with all the mud flying about drivers detecting screenshots and increasing quality who knows?

It's to show the reduced IQ of the Det 51.75 compared to the earlier ones, it seems that nVidia has delivered it's promise of better performance, but at a reduced IQ.

The Flash animation is the easiest way to see the difference IMHO, just a shame it's so slow. :D
