ASUS's webserver has some old pages cached or something.. I tried USA and it doesnt show up.. but shows up on Global for me... close your browser and reopen it and see if you can't get connected to another server that shows it, or just download from the rapidshare.

And about this bios. Is he fixing something more than memory? I have no problems with my crucial but i have problem with OC my qx9650. My stable settings are 4300mhz at 1.5v and all other voltages +0.1. Now when i set 4400 in many combinations(10x440 11x400 etc.) i cant make my cpu stable. But on my other Abit Quad GT x38 i have stable 4470 at 1.5v Any ideas how to set voltages or othes settings? Meaby GTL? - i have it on AUTO... Anyone can help me to understand all the settings in bios?

0801 BIOS is officially out on ASUS usa site ...
what is the BIOS name for setting the FSB: DRAM ratio? mine is 5:6 right now and im trying to get 1:1 for more stability

dunno why the HD's on the intel controller show as IDE in Device manager instead of AHCI. All the HD's are labeled under IDE.
That is something that should be looked at.
HDTune shows NCQ enabled but that isn't an IDE property

There is somthing strange with this board. I can have stable 4270mhz with 1.46v but i cant make cpu stable at 4400 and even 1.55!:( Any ideas?

801 fixed the SATA device priority of the Speeding HDD ports to Device6, so now it should be listed as the last drive during a new windows install, instead of the first drive, which is how it should of been.
Im more concerned with chipset functionality over OC.
The drives displaying as IDE in device manager are still there, perhaps a P45 driver update will fix it.
And its not set as IDE on bios, its set as AHCI in bios, so it quite odd.
I did a prime 95 with a lowly 266FSB, and it hit 52*C. Quite high, so i dont think the heatspreader is making proper contact, even though i tightened all the screws on the back to a point where they wouldnt turn without severe force.

You must put a rings under the screws of the NB Heatpipe, for more pressure.
My NB temperatures are not over 40C under Prime, before I put two rings under the screws, they was 64C....

Yer, i will do that on the weekend.
The thread depth inside the heatspreaders must stop the screws penetrating any further.

same problem, out of the box ~90-100°C NB temp (in Bios).

Hello there!!!

This are some OC tests on the MF2:

These are just some tests, not really the definitive one. Quite hard to do something nice with that suck' NB :(
Something nice on that MB: It needs less "voltage" to run. And by the way, it push away some limits (on MF1, my Q6600 stays @ about 470, here I can do some 510)
I'm on 604 bios, 701's not really fit for me. Not try the 801 yet
And Q6600 won't boot with strap 400 :confused:...
See ya

Can anyone tell me if the black PCI-E 1X connector that is supposed to be used for the SupremeFX pseudo-XFi, can also be used like a regular PCI-E 1X slot? I would like to put my Asus Xonar there, but I don't want the board to freak out if that black slot is somehow reserved, gimped, or otherwise only supposed to be for the audio addon card. Thanks.

Yes it will work fine there, it is a normal PCIe x1 slot, I plan on getting a Xonar too, the sound of the bundled card doesnt impress me much compared to the X-Fi Xtrememusic i was using before.

Finally worked out my problems with this board. I still can't pass test #3 in memtest86 with any RAM at any settings but it doesn't seem to matter. Even though it fails memtest, it passes 24 hours of the Vista Extended Memory test and also passes 24 hours of looping 3DMark along with Prime95 Torture.
Stable as a rock even though it can't pass memtest. First board I've ever seen like this. Odd.
I really had to knock down my RAM settings to get 8GB stable. Had to drop OCZ Platinum 1066 down to 800mhz at 6-7-7-20. But I guess that's expected with 4x2GB sticks. I don't have a big OC on it, just 3.2Ghz on my Q9450.
But it's working good and I don't have to RMA it. Finally!
Is anyone else having problems with the Creative Console Lancher in Windows XP? It crashes if I double click the icon on the system tray. If I launch it with a single click, then select something, then it only crashes every other time. I've tried reinstalling it from the disk and from the web with no luck.
Am I the only one using the software or is nobody else having issues with it?

bought this board and i got to say that the heat pipe thingie SUCKS !!!!. when i firts time fired upt the system i could not believe my eyes the NB temps were 85c... huhuh !!
when i took the damn thing off i noticed that the part what shold have been touching the NB had really horrible contact :(.. but now that i've sorted that out this board seems really promising i could hit 560fsb with just air cooling.. no other board that i have had so far has been able to do that with my E8500 :D .. i think its time to hook up my cascade and see what this baby can really do :D
Has anyone tried flashing a P5Q-Deluxe with a Maximus II Formula BIOS to make a Maximus II Deluxe? How similar/dissimilar are the PCBs?

I Must say this Board has been rock solid so far! I would like to push my e8400 to 4 GHz on Air (zalman 9700)
I am new to overclocking , so I am hoping someone with a similar setup could give me an idea where to start..
Right Now my Cpu Temp using real temp is 28C Core0 and Core1 30c Idle ( I hope with those temps I can reach 4GHz stable!
Should I use a 1:1 Ratio with the FSB? If so I would like to see these ram sticks at 1066 or Higher.
Thanks

i have OCZ ddr2 800 that shows up as ddr3 under the memory tab of CPU-Z and shows as ddr2 under the SPD. is there some memory incompatibilities for these memories on the mobo? i'm not sure if it's the BIOS fault or CPU-Z is just reading it wrong. currently using 0701 BIOS. one more thing, what's the difference if i put both sticks in both the blue or both the white memory slots? the manual says that putting the first two sticks in the two white slots can OC the memory better. is that really true? mine is currently in the blue slots

I just ordered this from Newegg and will post my results next week. The reviews of the board seem promising but I'm a bit worried with the amount of ram stability issues XS members are mentioning. Hopefully the new bios will improve things for everyone.
I have the 2x2gb of G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ.
My only disappointment w/ the board is no Gate Express and no need for the sound card.

(Nevermind, first issue fixed itself with a reboot. No idea why, but I won't question it)
Edit: I've also installed my Xonar in the black PCI-E slot - do I have to turn off HD Audio in BIOS or whatnot, so it doesn't try to use it like the creative card, or doesn't that matter?
Second question still stands though :D

Thanks. I usually only use a 64 bit operating system, so it should all show up. My specific issue was that it POSTed at 3.2gb the first time after the BIOS flash, but after another reboot is back to seeing the full 4gb.
Any clue if disabling the onboard audio is necessary to use the black PCI-E slot? Also, is it just me or I can't seem to find a RAM divider in the bios anywhere. I'm sure its somewhere, but nothing I've pressed so far gives me the predictable menu of ratios I'm used to?

Here in Spain in 5 boards, 4 come with serious problems of temperature. Reached out of the box 90ºC in NB and shutdown. I already have tested three boards. With the last board I have had success with the NB, using 0.8mm washers, Artic Silver and tightening strong. But my SB is 5-7º above the NB, no matter if i use washers or Artic Silver too.
We really need someone to explain the optimal and ultimately solution to this serious problem.

lower the nb volts, so far i have gotten 4hz on my 3110( same core as the 8400) with the nb at 1.25,PLL is 1.55, cpu is 1.27 but vdrop puts it at 1.25, fsb 1.28
keeping the fsb term higher than the nb seems to help, also load line enabled really helps. my vdroop was like .03 with out it.

I was wondering if any one has an E8400 Overclcoked to 4 GHz (Stable) using an Asus Maximus II motherboard?
If so could you Please Post some pictures of your bios so I can see what voltages I need to adjust and what settings I need to enable or Disable !
I have been trying to get my system stable for a week without Success:D right Now I am currently running my CPU @ 3.8 475x8 Vcore 1.36, Orthos has been running for 1 hr Now, but I would love to get this cpu to 4GHz !
Thanks in advance
Update:
Failed orthos 2hrs 19 min grr

what sort of temps are you getting when the 2 cores are fully stressed ??

Maximum Temp on both cores 51c but usualy hovers around 46c on core 0 and 49c on core 1. Idle I get 26c on 0 and 28c on 1, that's using a TJMAX of 95 vcore bios 1.36 cpu-z 1.344

Have you guys been able to get decent fsb with quads with this mobo? I was never able to get higher than 450 on my older DFI P35 UT board or even the DFI X48 LT board. I just played with a few settings and was easily able to boot at 470 with Maximus II formula...I haven't done any stress testing yet...that will follow soon. I'm thinking I may even get this CPU to 500! I haven't even changed any GTL settings yet.

I try 2 Q6600, they both reach 510 "easilly", don't try higher fo now. On MF1 with rampage Mod, I was able to reach 470 MAX (even with really high Vnb). But they don't boot with Strap 400 on MF2.
On a X3350, max reached: 490. But really hard to do something nice with it. There's some strange errors :mad:.
And it need too much Vnb to run at high FSB. Something like 1.60v...
e8400 is the easiest to OC :p:.
But I have to look closer to do something better than FSB 540.
By the way, in auto on CPU PLL, the board gives some 1.72v :eek::shocked:, that's crazy.
Bios 802, 701 were tested but I prefer 604.

Bios 802, 701 were tested but I prefer 604.
:)
Hiya Mr-rob, how's bios0604 better than the others, could you elaborate a bit more ?
Strap 400 don't work on either 0503 and 0801 for me. I already tested with Ballastix pc8500, Mushkin and Dominator and all failed.
My Q9450 reached a max of 475 on bios0801 and Prime95 blend-test stable for 12+hrs but failed OCCT within 30 mins. The best I
cab do atm is 450 to be OCCT stable.
I was gonna try 0802 but perhaps I may backflash to 0604 and see it goes.....
My current settings:
fsb=450, memory @ ddr1080 on strap333. AI Booster=strong, PL=8
vcore=1.3125
vTT=1.325
vPLL=1.6325
vNB=1.51075. yeah I need more
The northbridge does get hot under load. Was planning to watercool the NB but now I won't bother to because the heatpipe assembly is all in 1 piece. Too much work for me. :(

vcore=1.325 (cpuz 1.304 under load)
vTT=1.325
vPLL=1.59xx
vNB=1.3
I think i need to play around some with GLT but I cant find any good reference on how this works. All i can find are people recomneding to set them at x61/x63/67 and similar but this board gives mV changes... does anyone have any good reference on how to set these up or is it just trial and error?

This tests are not the maximum reached on this board, just some quick parameters...
Quick toughts:
-This mobo needs in most of case less voltage than MF1 (my Q6600 is able to run fully stable @8x450, Vcore 1.30v Cas4 on Muskhin Xp² and also with Red Tracer PC6400.
-X3350 needs more Vnb to run high FSB. Also high CPU PLL...
-A nice mobo for OC, but I don't konw yet if it can be a real performer just like MF1.
:cool: This is my solution for WCing the NB:

That's all for now. Next time, I'll try to make sonething nice with my e8400

Forget it......
I must make a CMOS Reset when I use 400, the Board switch on and off, but I can not go into the BIOS.....
y??
how u think i was running at 400fsb 1066mhz??
strap 400 is usable on p45's more than x38's/x48's since the tRD is now same as strap 333...
on x38's/x48's it takes a tRD hit..
hmm i've been looking at all u guys on ure settings...
why arent u all adjusting ure gtl on 45nm proc.. u should.. if not ure just overvolting ure proc..
calculation is simple
this is for 500fsb on crossfire...
vtt 1.2v nb 1.2v
gtl 0/2 = 1.2v x 0.635 - leave this at auto
gtl 1/3 = 1.2v x0.667 ( too high)
to change
1.2v x 0.667 + Y= 1.2v x 0.63
Y = 1.2v(0.63-0.667)
= -0.044
so u should change gtl 1/3 to -45vm
for 400fsb on crossfire
vtt 1.12v nb 1.12v
1.12v x 0.667 + Y = 1.2v x 0.63
Y = 1.12v( 0.63-0.667)
= - 0.04144
so u should change gtl 1/3 to either -40vm or -45nm depending on ure voltage flux on load..
have fun maximus 2 users
for 65nm
u should run 0.667v for gtl 0/2..
so u should + vm on it..
u will find this board much more stable.. and less voltage on vcore if u do this and make sure ure vtt is = or more than ure nb..

ok say ure using vtt 1.35v
so adjustment for gtl 1/4 is null
therefore u need to adjust gtl 0/3
so how much easy
1.35v x 0.667 = 1.35v x 0.635 + Y
Y= 1.35v( 0.667-0.635)
Y=0.0432v
= 43.2mv
i usually roundup.. so u should +45vm on gtl 0/2
havent really tested a 65nm quaddies on p45's but from experience in the past with other boards.. 65nm works best on gtl 0.667/0.67

The ones you would need to adjust are CPU GTL Reference 1 & 3, because they are set at .67 which would be good for a 65nm cpu, but not a 45nm like yours.

Well, first off I'll have to say Hi!, since I'm new here.
You'll have to excuse me if these questions are already answered somewhere else, but it feels like cracking your head into a brick wall trying to find concrete answers to these, IMO, fairly simple questions... I'm not really looking to do any overclocking (guess I'll be slapped around a bit here, for that).
Will this board run 8Gb RAM (4x2) stable? Would you recommend 800 or 1066 Mhz?
Is this, occasional, NB temp issue I keep reading so much about a out-of-the-box fault, or something related to overclocking?
Will it actually impair real world gaming, that the P45 only supports 8x PCI-e when running CF? I'm looking to go 2x 4870. There's a lot of sites coming to different conclusions on this...
Any answers at all would be greatly appreciated.

well for one the board has 2 PCI express 2.0 slot so the extra bandwith will make up for the 8x8 when throw in crossfire mode from what I understand..
If you don't plan on extreme overclocking your cpu than DDR 800 should suit you well and It's hella cheap !
My northbridge was at 38c out of th box.
This board can hold 4x4 GB sticks, you should have no problem running 8GB, I wouldn't recomend mis matching ram sticks though

use the vtt/vnb voltage i gave u with the gtl's

ok here is the problem with quaddies
p45 with dualcore.. single card vs dual card.. different vnb
4 sticks.. single sided vs 2 sticks single sided.. different vnb
4 sticks.. dual sided vs 4 sticks dual sided.. really different vnb
throw in a quaddy.. .. well u know what i mean..
each setup with quaddies are different.. as with dual core..
quaddies has pll voltage to come in play.. while dual core will bsod with any increase in pll voltage..on ram stress

ok to answer some
p45's vs x48's..
reason y ppl are liking p45's is cause all the motherboard temps are low. hence it can take a lot of punishment with the low voltages its running to do 500 fsb..
if ure not into clocking ure bus speeds.. than x48's with the slight advantage on 16x pcie is the way to go..
but if ure into clocking and a acceptable ( with almost negligable performance difference with crossfire on x48) crossfire performance than this board will not fail u.. its easy to clock on this without much cooling or worry on the board

on another note, does anyone else have an issue with the memory showing up as ddr3 on cpuz?? not sure if it's my memory, the mobo, or cpuz. memory is OCZ gold ddr2 800 and it reads fine on other mobos and any version of cpuz, but on maximusII, it's reads ddr3 no matter which BIOS or cpuz version. relaxed the timings and still no difference

Am I having a hardware problem or is there something else that I am missing.:(

If it's at idle and never under load it could be loadline calibration that plays parts... try a bit more Vcore...

5.4ghz
ram to 1:1
cpu voltage: 1.725v

FSB termination voltage:1.325v
NB: 1.4v

My Maximus2 came with no contact between heatsink and NB at all. Practicaly ZERO contact. First thing, i removed the heatsink and aplied MX-2 thermal compound on the NB and SB. After that i had a lot better temperatures, but still wanted to get something better. A friend of mine had the EK NF4 waterblock from his last motherboard and didnt need it anymore. So he gave it to me, here is a preview what came out:

The fun and frustration of OCing never seem to end.
I have a nice stable OC of my E8500 at 4.0, 4.2, and 4.4. Temps and voltage get a bit nuts at 4.4 but oh well,
The problem today is with resuming from sleep mode.
The first time it enters sleep after bios setting changes everything is normal. The second time the system powers up briefly (no video) and then begins a restart but hangs prior to boot. I have to clear bios to boot the system. If I run at standard settings the system awakens from sleep normally every time.
I can certainly live without sheep mode but it is a convenience and I would just plain like to find the answer. The problem at this point is with a 4.0 OC with 424fsb and 9.5. I have increased vCsore to 1.36 with no improvement. I have good stability at a vCore of 1.34.
Thanks,
Gene

One thing that BIOS 901 fixes for me is CPU Vtt voltage. Now when I select a voltage in BIOS it actually gives me that result.. If I select 1.24 it gives 1.24.
In all previous BIOS if I select 1.24, it gives 1.34!

Bios 0901:
9x333 = 3000MHz @ 1,088V prime error after 1 min
Bios 0802
9x335 = 3015MHz @ 1,088V primestable
so i can`t recommend the 0901 - for me the 0802 ist still the best version

Yah, some bootable CD's work fine, other's dont. I don't understand it, the ones that don't boot on this board boot fine on other boards I have.
I was reading a thread on here with people having similar problems with the P5W DH Deluxe, Where if you have both the Intel Raid bootrom, and Marvell bootrom enabled this happens. I'm using the intel raid ports so I can't disable and swap to the marvell to see if it works, and if i disable the marvell the CDROM drive disappaers totally.

Another thing, what would be the bad temperatures for this motherboard? Despite waterblock on mine, it idles POWER 35°, NB 39°, SB 42°, Motherboard 33°. Load takes it average 2-3° higher, exept for POWER somewhere about 45°. In my oppinion this are still high temperatures... I will do it with pleasure, but not now because I work on my 2nd mod (with MF1) and in the same time, I don't really finished my other mod (the one with MF2).
My Q6600 is full stable @ 9x460 on MF1. Boot+Screen @ 9x470.
I run with it between 9x400/9x450.
->On MF2, this Q6600 seems to run better (specially with lower voltage for the same parameters).
->It also capable of running @ FSB510 (max 470 on MF1).
->It doesn't boot with STRAP 400.
My guess (hope...) is that the Q6600 will run higher with MF2.
I don't know what the Motherboard & POWER's temp' really means...
Your NB/SB's temp' look nice. But I just have 1° between NB & SB.
->The overheat protection on NB is set to 90°, so it's correct.
However, on a real NB WB (on my MF1), my NB's temp' is about 33° to 37°, even with a 9x450. So I think that just cooling the NB with the cooling system is not so bad.
Despite your given temp', you don't give the essential temp': The core's one...
->It's really important to give it.
For example:
http://images4.hiboox.com/vignettes/2808/be7df988044ff2f493feac47565fa846.jpg (http://www.hiboox.com/go/pictures/miscellaneous/q6600-mf2-3,be7df988044ff2f493feac47565fa846.jpg.html)

Nah, that's about right where it should be. I took my heatpipes off and completely remounted them with washers and MX-2, and with a room temperature of 26C my NB is 44C idle, 47C when running prime for a few hours.

just did a Q6600 & 8GB DDR2-800 OC with the following settings;
Manual Settings
Multi = 8
FSB = 400
DDR2-801
Gives 3.2Ghz and 8GB of DDR2-800 5-5-5-12 (safe settings for now)
CPU Volts = 1.35000
CPU PLL = 1.50000
FSB = 1.29875
DRAM = 1.95900
NB = 1.29875
SB 1.5 = 1.55300
SB 1.1 = 1.15300
Running Prime95 with round-off checking temps on NB got 49*C which was cooler than 266FSB without the washer mod (53*C)
Still could do with tweaking, but need to share settings with other Q6600 + M2F users.
At least it booted up and into windows without any bugs.

I have a really strange problem going on.
First, for the normal part. I can play with oc all over the place, adjusting fsb, vcore and ratio with all the expected limits re heat, vcore, etc. I get a stable (occt and Everest)456 * 9.5 at 1.3825 vcore.
I can play infinitely so long as I do restarts or ONLY one power off boot. If I do a second power off the system hangs and will not boot until I turn power completely off at the PSU and then it reboots with cleared cmos.
This does not happen at all with fsb below 430. At 430fsb or higher the problem persists regardless of multiplier.
I don't think it is mobo hardware because all operations are normal so long as I limit to a fsb at 422*9.5. A 4009 stable with E8500 ain't so bad but this limit is truly weird.
My next try is to roll back to a bios prior to 0802 and see if that helps. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.
update:
I rolled back to the 0701 bios and it made no difference. :(

you will love this board it can do really high fsb with really low voltages ( if i compare it with the p35 boards that needed really high NB volts to reach higher fsb speeds).. i'd recommend using the asus overclocking tool to overclock straight from windows it makes finding the max settings little bit more faster than always going to bios..
BTW if anyone of you guys are suffering from high NB temps thats hindering you from getting that littlebit of extra from your board but dont wanna resort to water cooling, you might wanna check this out..
after i found that my boards heatpipe thingie had the worst contact ever with the NB chip, i did this simple little thing.. i added 2 metal washers ontop of the plastic ones that comes with the board...it helped me to drop 20c of my NB temps ( remember i had a horrible contact before, you might not get such a big drop in tepms like i did :D)..

Yes, just watch out for the little black boxes around the socket (mosfets i think they arel).
The X bracket can move around while installing it.
Now, can someone give a rough voltage for a 475FSB NB setting?
Surely there are generic settings for each level of FSB, considering all the boards have the same heatsink cooling it.

This is normal as the new intel CPUs have power saving features. Load a program and watch CPU-Z. It will then show briefly the "correct" speed.

Hello i have an interesting trouble with that motherboard.
I am now on stock speed, no overclocking. I can past any stress tests orthos, memtest, prime95 for hours. No problem but when i try to play games or 3dmark06 i would not survive more than a minute without promptly rebooting the entire system. I tried different Videocard, CPU, memory, PSU. I had a similar problem with this board and an overclocked E8500. It would pass stress testing and then, with no warning, crash while doing simple things like browsing with Firefox with or without bluescreen. Even though it had passed stress it seemed to want more vCore which seemed to help. Since I have upgraded to the E8600 and do not have that problem at all.
I don't really think the issue is chip related. More likely, it is bios/chip related.
You might try the 0901 bios if you haven't already.
A second thought - have you run memtest86 on your ram chips? Also, try imcreasing the voltage on your ram a notch or two.
My present challenge is really crazy temps. Overclocking the E8600 to 4.5 I am getting temps in the mid to high 70s though my vCore is only around 1.35. Everything on the board is barely warm to the touch so I am thinking screwy sensors.

The problem is exactly on either board or BIOS.
Look at these links, reviewers had the exact same problem:

Please help me
My config:
Asus Maximus II Formula
Intel E8500
OCZ Reaper 2x2gb 1066mhz
Sapphire Ati HD4870
WD 300gb Velociraptor
Silverstone OP1000
No problems with Games.
I can play with Devil May Cry 4 for hours without any bugs under Vistax64.
(bios 604/)
Has any one used a Q9450 on this board and what results are you getting ?
Look at the results of a X3350 on this thread, it's +/- the same thing.
