The title is kinda vauge but Im mostly wondering how you go about installing and tweaking your OS.

After you do a clean install of 2k or XP in what order do you install motherboard drivers, chipset drivers, directx, and video card drivers ?

Do you get the latest windows updates or just leave the system as it is ? Or do you just get specific ones ?

What kind of tweaks to the OS do you do to get the highest scores ? When installing should you just install the bare minimum ?

After I get my new power supply and CPU on Wenesday I am going to try to break 12k with my gf3 ti200. Since I dont have an extra psu (sold mine and is getting shipped tommorow, on parents crapaq now) I thought I should start reading up on windows tweaks and tweaks for my card.

I am planning to make a seperate small ~5GB partition on my hard drive just for benchmarking. Should I make this partition NTFS or FAT32, as Ive read that FAT32 is faster for partitions under 32GB. Ill be using windows 2000 so any tweaks for that are welcome, as are those for XP.

Going to be using my 8rda+ vdd @ 1.9v, 2500+, fortron source 530 watt, 2 256mb xms 3500 bh-5, and my ti200 so I would love some AMD tips and tricks.

Thanks in advance :toast:

Do the L2 and unload DLL after use registry key changes.. they help. Forget where they are, and i've lost how to do them now, too 8-/

I usually just install however.. haven't had any problems yet.

Win2K is faster on AMD than XP by default, but the L2 and DLL trick pretty well even the playing feild.

Also, bench on fresh boots and only load what you have to. Bench Game 1-4, then select the others (not including game 1-4) so they dont affect your final score.

uh.. thats about all the special stuff I do?

Yea Ive heard of a lot of people using norton ghost to make images of their drive so they dont have to reinstall windows everytime something goes wrong.

Only problem I have is I dont use a floppy and you need one to run ghost from what Ive read. I believe theres a certian way u can burn a cd to make it be bootable like a floppy with norton and whatever else on it but Im not sure how you would go about doing it.

Thanks for all the tips so far ! :toast:

Kill all services, Set overclock sliders to maximum, Strip off your clothes, "Personal preference " But i think it makes me have less wind resistance then the average overclocker who is fully clothed when benching.
Maybe thats why i do better with less i guess;)

P.s Norton ghost is crap use casper xp to make a bootable exact mirror image.
CAsper Pwns u!

Just you wait, once I get my Brazilian, I'll be like a knife through butter.

Hmmm, butter, now, that's an idea...

Ha @ Butter!:)
I tried that once but then figured out a skin tight seamless suit with the scales of a combination of 3 different exotic snakes gave me the best results:slobber:
