i always end up with a cracked res , this is the 2nd res that crack on me
i first had magicool res and it cracked from the top
now iam using a MICRO and it cracked
do heat > cold make them crack ? what could be the problem ?
i would understand if it was from the barb thread , but its the side of my MICRO
i will add pics for my micro later when i remove it
its still on my running loop , tho slow leaking a drop every 2h or so
EDIT: added pic's

pix for shure
hot/cold could do it but the temp change would have to be drastic

Its the alcohol in the coolant that does that to the acrylic. That's why I am now running a straight distilled loop with a tline.

I had a danger den polyethylene res crack around the barbs after a couple of months. I think it was a combination of too much plumbers tape, overtightening and the constant heating up and cooling down. I now have a solid xspc acrylic res which is much thicker where the barbs go in. All fine so far after about 1.5 months.

Those res's had that problem because they are molded and the seam from the mold intersected the fitting bosses. I've been told they have since corrected that problem.

Doubt it. If this were the case, we would hear about this far more often. I also don't know of any pre-mixed coolant that would willingly use any kind of alcohol in their product knowing there is a chance the end user will be using an acrylic res.

UV ... it can diminish the plasticizers in the plastics .. causing them to be crack .. and with constant pressure (water splashes) in the res, then cracking rate is further amplified.
that's a slight disadvantage of UV bling bling ..

not sure if it was the plastic or coolant , hot > cold shouldnt be the problem since my coolant barely gets warm

over tightening? There are wear marks on the brackets

:( I've got a spare micro res in good condition I need to get rid of. I've never done any trading over the net though and plus I think I should wait till I get some more posts and can see that forum. But as a heads up I accidentally got an extra res.

I've been making my own reservoirs out of 1/4" cast acrylic for a few years and haven't had the first crack. That is pretty messed up.
And I just use IPS weld-on #3.

gasoline , methanol , alcohol etc can make plexi or lexan brittle
ever seen what gas does to a styrofoam cup?? it makes the cup contract plexi is dense so it tightens the structure thus becoming brittle
IMHO that can be cracked after too much presure inside. Some coolants can "grow" if are more hot that room temp
