thermalright back plate question

So I took the back plate off my old mobo and I realized that I don't have more of the sticky glue pad / double sided tape that held the backplate to the mobo.

Can I just use the back plate w/o it? or was the padding for the pad intentional so the mobo wouldn't get damaged?

I guess I can just use some double sided tape if need be...

The padding would be there to protect the board as well as to prevent shorting. Hopefully you've got a peace of the antistatic foam the most boards ship with, otherwise I'm sure someone else has a better solution

haha... ok good thing i asked first... yeah I should have an extra soft foam thing that comes w/ mobo's... for some reason on the msi neo2 it didn't come w/ such foam
