Hello all,
I need some help understanding something. I have a Supermicro case with SAS/SATA backplane that supports SGPIO or SES-2 over I2C. I also have a LSI Megaraid card that supports both as well.
How do I take advantage of this? Do I need to connect cables from the backplane to the Raid card? The backplane supports 8 drives and has 2 connectors for I2C and 2 connectors for sideband headers which I assume are for SGPIO?
From the manual:
#6 and 9. Sideband Headers
The sideband headers are designated JP51
and JP52. For SES-2 to work properly, you
must connect an 8-pin sideband cable. See the
table to the right for pin definitions.
#7 and 8. I2C Connectors
The I2C Connectors, designated JP45 and
JP45, are used to monitor HDD activity and
status. See the table on the right for pin definitions.
Any help would be really appreciated!
