All,
Wanted to get a fun game for my new benching rig...any recommendations? Something with cool graphics, eye candy and fun...likw blasting nasty creatures into oblivion...no joystick games or the like...just mouse/keyboard games. BF 1942??
Something with a built-in benchmark feature would be fun, too.

BF1942 is a real hoot to play, UT2k3 has purdy graphics + pretty much universal benchmark right now, Medal of Honor is great if you don't have that one.

UT2 is the best FPS right now, as far as modern engines go. Of course HL2 will blow it away.

Maybe try Aquanox 2, that'll stress yer rig pretty good. I havent played it, but Aquanox 1 was a great game, should be more of the same, w/ nicer graphics. For benching, there's Aquamark 3, which will be out monday I think.

my vote goes for unreal 2 (i could be the only person on the planet that actually enjoyed it). it doesnt have a benching program, but playing it with everything turned up will take even a uber-powerful benching rig and beat it to hell. very demanding game.

I finished UT2K3 for Xbox in like 3 hours...is the PC version more challenging??

Cool, I only live about 12 miles from the Tenn/AL state line.

Not on Xbox but on the PC, all sorts of mods and maps. UT2k3 gets my vote, its probably the most vido intensive and system taxing game out right now.

actually there are probably 2-3 thousand maps. Ive made 6 or 7 and my clan [DaTs] have almost 80 custom maps ourself. Ive downloaded several "Map Packs" containing 250 or more maps each. Not only are ther custom maps but hundreds of mods, mutators and game types. The game is completely customizable. U can even make your own weapons or modify existiing weapons if u can code.

It's a beaut, not the most demanding or involving game, but when it looks that good, I'll give it some allowances. :D

And it does actually have a benchmarking facility, I just can't remember how to use it right now.
