?cpu usage..XP..2 systems different?

setups in sig ok?

1. intel one is at 0% cpu usage when idle right?

2. 939 opteron one is at 15-30% usage at idle....?
also, it's chugging away with the 2nd core only..at idle..



anyone shed some light on this?

both now are clean installs...i checked as soon as xp was installed on the opty..and there it was: 15-30% idle cpu usage...

only 20 processes in taskmanager including firefox...opty....?
all say 00 cpu time and idle process at 99%
so, wtf is going on?

Task Manager / Processors / CPU ...anything there look like its running ?
edit: sorry just noticed the bottom half of ur post lol .... is the 939 running with Nvidia N-Force 4 chipset, and if so did u install the NV Mixer App.?

i have seen this when a device is failing the driver continually uses cpu... but you cant see it in task manager... but you an see it in process explorer so try that!!

I had a similar problem when trying to use a 2600Pro on an nforce4 board, maybe it's the same for your 2600XT. There is some kind of compatibility problem. In the device manager, check under system devices for something like "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver", disable it, and check if the CPU usage goes back to normal. If you don't need the HD audio out from the 2600XT, you can leave it disabled with no problem.

Me, neither. I was pulling my hair out for hours trying to figure it out. The worst thing for my situation was that the HD audio was a key reason for my purchase (I wanted audio and video over HDMI), and it was totally unusable (and apparently will never be fixed).
