Hi,

I have tried installing, uninstalling and reinstalling this 3 times. everytime i do the GUI looks like the old windows 95 style in 256 colors. but it used to work fine on this system before i reformatted. and BTW this is a fresh install of XP pro and everything else works fine...

this is what it should look like:

and this is what it looks like on my system:

i can install it on other computers in my house and it works fine. WTF is going on?

Check to see if it is user related- create another user account and try the install.
you might also want to try "msconfig" and get rid of any startup programs and services that could be interfering.

Man, you nailed that one on the head!

I uninstalled it, went through msconfig, created a new user account, reinstalled it and it worked!

it still didnt work right in my other user account, so i deleted that account and just configured the new user account in the same way as the old one.

weird problem but all is good now! Thank You
