Trivia: If you have the SupremeFXII Sound card, and you baught Unreal Tournament 3, there is a good chance when you go to start the game you would freeze at the games opening splash screen.

Answer: It is the Sound Max Audio driver that is causing this issue. The only way I ever got my game to successfully run was by deinstalling the sound card in device manager. The game would then start, but with no sound.

I just did a fresh install of Vista a few days back, and am just using the Vista 64 bit default sound card driver. My sound card is working fine, and Unreal Tournament 3 now runs fine with sound.

I am getting a new CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blue-Ray drive, and the sound card driver also may hurt your video playback too I guess...

"Other Thoughts: I purchased this drive for my PC so I could finally watch Blu-ray and HD-DVD movies (even though the format war is over now). It comes with CyberLink's PowerDVD Ultra (2 channel version) and playback of the movies was VERY choppy/stuttering or they wouldn't play back at all. After spending a few hours tinkering, I narrowed down the problem to the process DLLML.exe (a Creative Labs process that came with my X-Fi sound card). It was causing the drive to read the disc every few seconds and once I terminated the process, all movies played perfectly! Creative needs to release a fix for this soon; until then, I'm disabling the process from starting up anymore".

I think my sound card driver is sad!

The Vista 64Bit default sound card driver gave me a working Unreal Tournament 3.
Driver: Microsoft 6/21/2006 version 6.0.6000.16386.

Load these drivers, and kiss Unreal Tournament 3 goodbye.
