View Full Version : Getting used to Vantage
I've spent a few hours benching Vantage with Skulltrail, Striker II Extreme and ASUS EN9800GX2 TOP on air/water cooling to get a idea on how to run it in the future with liquid notrogen. It is a pretty pleasent experience benching Nvidia graphic cards again. And 790i is not as frustrating as I remember 680i to be :)
Vantage is growing on me since the hotfix, might be a very good benchmark for upcoming generation gpus.
Vince sent me Tek-9 slims so there are some full ln2 runs coming up :D

Huge problems with running ln2 on skulltrail, random blue screens started at 4800MHz :(

I dont like vantage much i must say, but maybe it will grow on me like 06 did :D
How is the temps on load with the DD blocks??:)

1.16V for 829MHz. I'm having problems with voltage to the gpus, when I raise the voltage for the gpu I have to lower the memory clocks else it will freeze in the loading screen and the screen will start to flicker. Really strange problem, anyone know what might remedy this? With 1.29V and 1000MHz mem I can run 864MHz. If I clock the memory to 1020MHz it will feeze before the benchmark starts and start to flicker :(
Idle at 29C and max load is 34C with 829MHz.

Sweet setup there! Same here with Vantage.., It grows and is really a lot of fun! Not as easy straight forward as it seem ... also waiting for a new monitor so I can go the rest of the variants too!

Even on LN2 you need to find the balance between GPU/mem speed. Pretty sure its power delivery problem.

That is my thoughts aswell. Alltough it seems that if the cards can handle subzero well the gpu will scale really good. The water blocks made a pretty big difference (65MHz) on the same voltage.

Markus what mod spot did you use? There are 2 places posible to mod on the same circuit. One of them do not work proberly for me also. Vgpu jumping around etc. but i never seen or noticed that the mem will have to be balanced to get higher GPU clocks as you an T-M mention. on my leadtek card mem is good for 1240 no mods nomatter what gpu clocks.....

65mhz gain on H20 :cool:
Yeah, clocks on these cards is all about cooling.
On LN2 im running only vGPU 1.27V (more will OCP) for 1050/1154 benching at -70C.
Compare that to Sham who is somehow able to pump 1.6V and his gain is only 100MHz

There is something up with the board I suspect. I'm having the same problems on air with random blue screens.
For Entry and performance, skulltrail is the way to go. High and Extreme a 790i board like Striker II Extreme is the way to go.

Danger Den sure did a great job. Perfect fit and awsome performance.
It is a Asus Trition 77, yes it handles the load from the QX9770 suprisingly good for its small size :)

In Finland, you would be Markus :D Maybe they look what SIOUX wrote and thought, that it is spelled that way.
Many times my nick is spelled S3FD or SDF3 or something similar :rofl:

i think it is OVP and OVC, had the same problem and I think shamino fixed this
i was able to run 850/1180/2150MHz with EK watercooling :D
