A pleasure to work in and with 7 fans...still very, very quiet.
Still to find the best CPU cooling...the 200mm side fan gets in the way of most.

Thought I'd add to the discussion. I recently heavily modified my Nine Hundred and water cooled it as well. I will say that it was the biggest pain in the ass I've ever had to deal with, but the results were well worth the effort. Here's some photos.

This next one, the 12volt cord was lengthened and modified from a 6 pin to a 4 pin connector (Thermaltake decided an adapter wouldn't be a good thing to include) I'm still not happy about this cut out though, it's not as clean as I'd like.

Intel Core 2 Due E4300 over clocked to 3.9 Ghz from 1.8 Ghz
Nvidea 8800GTS 620mb Overclocked horrendously (can't give exact numbers at this time)

My latest system, I'm still waiting on another panaflo to replace the current yate loon on the video card... Other than that its complete, for now.
Very clean setup . How's the video card doing with the HR-03 mounted on top? I'd imagine that it would be bending under that much weight...

As for me, new case and watercooling is coming soon. Will be posting new rig setup within the next couple of weeks.

DearKook,
Great job man, although there are many great rigs posted recenlty I have been most impressed with yous because it's clean and utilitarian! You did a great job with both the wirring and the sound dampening material (which is not the easiest thing in the world to install)! What are you running for hardware?

DearKook
09-13-2007, 08:05 PM
Metric - Yeah that heat sink is kinda heavy but the stock heat sink bowed the card much more than the HR-03.. You can still see a very slight warping from it. Good luck with your new rig!

Roger_D25 - Thats what I was going for. :) And yeah that sound dampening stuff was a pain... I had to buy a second box of it because I couldn't get the cuts and or application of it right. As far as whats in the case..

Close but not quite --dual Opterons & Supermicro.

It appears to be a Supermicro H8DCE
http://www.komplett.nl/img/p/400/317305.jpg

Correct - but wrong picture. The northbridge on the H8DCE has a 40mm fan on it like mine.

You are correct, if those are xeons then all RAM slots will be at one place(at least most of the boards).

But whats the reason behind using some kind of coolers on RAM sticks ?

RAM heat spreaders dissipate heat. Are they effective...possibly. But they look leagues better than normal naked RAM sticks.

http://www.widefault.com/teeny/teeny18.jpg (http://www.widefault.com/teeny/tiny.htm)
Click the pic for more

Specs:
Commell LE-370CM6 Embedded 3.5" motherboard
600MHz Celeron-M, 0KB Banias
dual 40mm fans, surprisingly quiet
512MB DDR400@266 due to board limitations
40GB Seagate Momentus 5400.2 ATA 2.5" hard drive
Atheros 802.11b/g wireless card with external antenna

Total case size is around 4.5" deep x 3" tall x 6.5" wide. Pulls under 30 watts of power at load, about half that at idle. Power is a simple 60 watt power brick, overkill but it's what I have available. Performance is around the level of a PIII-600 or Via C3/C7 around 1GHz. Power and reset buttons on the back are from the parts box. Casing is made from parts salvaged from one of the breadbox cases below. Built more as an exercize than anything else.

Jetway i945 mini-ITX board
Core 2 Duo T5200(1.6Ghz, 533MHz bus)
1GB DDR2-533
Onboard dual gigabit, HDMI, s-video, component, SATA, etc. LOADED board, just loaded

The RadPC(above) and RadNAS(below)

http://widefault.com/pmrm/RadNAS2.jpg

Built using surplus 60's Radiation Detection Meters. One has a Pentium-M 1.6GHz on a Commell LE-370, the other an Advantech C3 667MHz board. Both have 512MB RAM and 40GB laptop hard drives. One was built to be a CarPC but has been living on my desk. The other acted as a NAS for a while, but has been out of use.

Welcome to the forum paul and thanks for posting some pics, looking good! Plus I like your plans for it, looking forward to seeing the updated pics once it's under watercooling! Hopefully it will give me some new ideas since your planning an unorthodox setup!

ThatGuy16,
Very nice setup you got there, very clean and tidy! By the way what are those switches on the front panel for, I'm assuming fans? They look pretty good, especially if they actually do something, lol! Did your case come with that color or did you paint it yourself? I ask because it's a rare looking color but looks cool!

ThatGuy16
10-10-2007, 07:49 PM
Thanks. It come that color (NZXT Apollo orange), and the switches from left to right are.. Cathodes, lcd controller panel (controls cpu fan/exhaust), side fan, and front intake fan.

i also have this panel with a 5.4" lcd screen

that's what i thought at first thought as well. it would have been cooler like this as well. but the LCD color wouldn't have been as balanced.

I didn't even see the LCD at first, that is pretty awesome and I'm not usually into that kind of stuff. By the way, did you do all the LCD modding yourself or did you buy the case that way? Also if it didn't come with the case did you buy the LCD pre-modded and ready to mount. Last but not least since the LCD came from a playstation what hardware/software is used to interface it with your PC? Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions because I'm probably not the only one curious!

All i done was rip it from the original housing and snip the speakers, and mounted... other than that it was just plug and play it seems you have to do some modding with the ps1 screens

Well observed, in fact we are still waiting for some fans to arrive so we can finish the machine. It's hard to find good fans in Brasil. . .:(
But anyway, there is no NEED for fans...did u see the size of those side and front fans? There was air coming out at every single hole in the case and the temps were excellent, like 2-5 degrees lower than outside the case.

I've noticed you like to fry your components with static.

Moe_Szyslak

Are you insane lumb3Rj4ck? NEVER put hardware on a carpet. If you want it stop working you could just hit it with a hammer.
Like nzbleach already noted, static electricity will kill hardware. Always keep it in an anti-static bag. If you want to take it out to put it on diplay, put it on top of the anti-static bag.

I was just waiting for the comments about static electricity! My house is only 2 years old and completely fitted with staticless carpet. The two years i have lived here i have not wrecked one component on the carpet. I knew you guys were going to give me a hard time about that one and i apreciate your concerns. Im going to take that picture down because i know there will be more comments on that

About the case, the Eureka is one of the best case i've ever seen.

But except for that, the Eureka is a great case.

Its a "intec" 5.4" playstation 2 portable LCD screen, i ripped it from the housing. Its powered from the original DC power plug and is hooked up to the video card by a S-Video to RCA adaptor.

agreed... the 830/832 is a nice case but only 9 bays in front and if you open it up, you will find that it's not that much room in there... well, at least, usable room...

but Newegg seems to be trying to get rid of it's older 830/832 models to make room for the new version...
