Hey Guys,
I've never posted any pictures here but I liked looking at all the other rigs so much that I thought I should post mine to. I just recenlty made the switch over to C2D from s939 like many others have and I'm enjoying it very much! I just finished the build about 2 days ago, now I'm finally able to just enjoy it!

Thanks for the great comments, much apprecaited! Since I posted those pictures the other day I've added a second 120.3 radiator but I'm not sure how long I'll keep it installed because it didn't lower my temps at all? I'm not exaclty sure why, I assumed adding a second huge radiator like that would have lowered temps by at least a few degrees under load but no go.

If anyone has any ideas why this might be the case please feel free to post! Also feel free to post suggestions on how to install the radiator differently for lower temps? Here are a few pictures of the new setup.

Ha ha Roger, I like the make-it-fit Borg approach (you will be assimilated) with the raddy. I hate when raddies won't fit the back of cases. Nothing a jackhammer won't fix. :lol:

WRT lower temps, add some fan shrouds. Better performance and quieter too. Sidewinder Computers is usually cheapest.

Edit: You didn't post temps. Maybe you have already reached your sweet spot? Can't go past ambient no matter how many raddies. If not, try more flow.

At the moment I'm running at 3.7Ghz on 1.49v (actual voltage w/DMM) and idle temp is 39C-42C, my load temps are 58C-64C depending on how my apartment temp varies over the night (I read load temps after a few hours of Orthos Small FFT's) and apartment temp varies around 23C. So unfortuenlty I'm no where close to ambient!

Was I a total idiot to think the temp would have dropped a few degrees by adding that crappy BIP120.3? I realize it's not much compared to the PA120.3 but it certainly added some surface area right? I should go back and re-read some of Marci's threads/post to get a better idea of why this didn't help bring temps down a bit!

I was pushing 62+ before I got the airflow worked out. If you look in the first picture I replaced one of the drive bay covers with modders mesh. Gives me much better airflow through the scythe Mine. Temps max out at 54c now.

That's the one down side of the Antec case, It's quiet but not enough air intake. All good now!

Just make sure your airflow is flawless.

The second rad probably hurt the flow enough that the extra area didnt' really make a difference.

That pa120.3 probably has the water getting very close to ambient anyway. To get a reasonable idea of what the water temp is, undervolt the cpu and see what it idles at, that should be within around 5 degrees of the water temperature(or at least it was on my machine)

Sorry guys about the big picture size, I usually post at 1024 x 768 but if there is anything to read in the picture you can't read it because it's just too small! I also forget sometimes because I have a 24" LCD.

Thanks for the post, back before I added the BIP120.3 and only had the PA120.3 my idle temps with CPU at stock speed and 1.19v was 20C-23C (depending on my apartment temp) so it was almost exaclty ambient. The actual water temp was also about 20C-23C (again depending on apartment temp).

I will bring my current CPU back to stock speeds and lower VCORE, then measure temps with both radiators installed to see what happens. In anycase smopoim86 if my idle temps are around ambient with CPU undervolted (like it was before I added second rad) what does that mean? Does that mean that the radiator was cooling the water as much as possible (ambient) so it wouldn't matter how many radiators I added (it can't get lower than abient)?

One last thing to add, my CPU temp didn't get any lower even though I took the G80 out of loop? My idle/load temps stayed right where they were when the G80 was in the same loop. Does that tell you anything?

my highest delta with the mine on an overclocked (4.2-1.4volts) 640 was 12 degrees. ( a sunon highspeed fan undervolted to just above 5volts barely turning). 42-3 idle 54-55 max

At max speed i was getting an eight degree delta.

my mount was flawless (small change in ac5 would yeild an almost 3degree difference in temps. one degree lower is what i've ever seen on a normal basis with that cooler and chip) and my cpu lapped.

I'm not sure you are doing anything wrong. Are you using coreTemp to determine the temps you posted? One thing that may be helping is the case layout. The air intake you have on the side of the mobo really helps. WHen air comes in from that side of the case it'll flow behind the mobo as well and really drop your temps. 30c for idle temps though seems pretty low for air.

yes it was a question rather since if your mount is good and you have good airflow your delta should be alot lower no matter your ambient (to a degree-->no pun intended)

18 degrees suggest you have a bad ihs or you either dont have enough, or too much tim.

just a thought. you seemed proud of your temps with that cooler, i'm saying it could even be better.

I sold my water cooling stuff cause im upgrading to Phase Change. Im also Looking for a better ram thats why i have a cheap ram right now.I also have an 8800 GTS Video card just sitting on my desk cause im swaping the cooler. Hope you guys like my Cable Management.

That might possibly be the cleanest wirring I've ever seen before, great job man! With that said are you going to keep that case when you make the switch over to phase? Also do you know what phase unit your going to use yet?

Soon I'll have a gpu power cable, hopefully it will be easy to hide.

The wires at the top are covered by the case. But I didn't want to take a picture of the side cover as the plexi is ugly. :down:

I've got one of those coolers too and they are nice. I think one of my fans is dying though. It's really noisy for 30 seconds or so when I first start the system up. Haven't found a 60x10mm fan to replace it though.

Anyway just curious what you did so that maybe I can do the same. Then again I just ordered a Silverstone TJ07 case (been wanting it ever since the new issue of Custom PC came out), lol!

You'd have to check a modding supplier in your vicinity. You could use any sort of adhesive backed foam, check local foam/plastics type businesses.

Front panel intake with MeshX grills and moulded fibreglass duct
Top blow hole with anti-spill cover
Noise dampening using adhesive foam
Cable management mods to motherboard tray
PSU cable alterations
Interior paint

I wish I had the money for it. The only "mod" I did to the case are 9 leds inside, but I have such a mess that it's not worth watching. If I wasn't so lazy than probably I would "clean" the case from all the wires, but I'm thinking of it... :D

Man thats an old school case design. Originally used by Alienware and made by Chieftec, it was cutting edge in it's day. Still one of my all time favorite cases.

Anyway, ive noticed that the case mods and WCing has stopped toward the Conroe age. Why is that? I looked at the first couple of pages and they were full of exciting and exotic cases and WCing and Phase. Now all i see is air, not complaining cause i have air also but still...

Many find the "risks" and work associated with WC to be too much in an age where you only lose a few hundred MHz on air and maybe gain a few decibels of noise.

Heres an update of my rig, new wiring, cleaner, cooler. I need to cut into the case again to accommodate for those 1m long SATA cables and my new SATA DVD drive (on its way). So it looks like I'm going to chop the back out the motherboard plate out and run everything under the board. I'll cut into it when my eVGA 680i board gets here with the rest of gear.

I would recommend it to EVERYONE however, you need a dremel to do a few mods to make the case perfect. Look to the left of the SATA cables right by the HDD's, I cutted that out to make space for the motherboard cable, but I like it running up the center, creates a lot of space.

Same goes for you, great build! It looks like you put some serious time into that build, especailly the watercooling setup, wow! I saw some pictures in your "Rebuilding" link that showed your Thermochill PA120.3 mounted on the back of your case. Is that your most recent build or is the pictures you just posted in this thread the most recent build? I also have that huge radiator and in the past I've mounted in on the back of my case like you did but I finally found a case which allowed me to install inside the case! Anyway great job, it would be nice to see some more pictures when you get that 20D or D20 camera!

heres the backlight bleed, but it is so noticable in the picture, but during movies and stuff you can't even notice it.

And heres the reason I'm not happy, its a 6 bit TN panel, and in order to produce 16.2m colors it uses dithering to make that happen, which in turn, makes everything dark look like a checker board but instead of being white and black, its black and grey.

It's a heavy guage security mesh with a black powder coat, very strong with a tuff finish. A friend of mine that works for a security window company used to bring me the leftover from different job sites, sadly he doesn't work for that company any longer..............:(

Um err not!, My case pic leads off the Stacker thread, and since my case is not finished yet I will not post pics here. There is a link to more work pics in my sig as well as in the Stacker thread, because my case is not done, though it leads off the thread, as well as I don't put people down for their work. I questioned his right to put someone else down when he has no room to talk. So unless you are color blind, maybe you should rethink your:"Hello pot, the kettle is black.:up:" comment.

PS: I had to cut up the Lian Li front blank bezel things to get the disktwins to fit. (they still fit in fine though and wasn't hard or anything, just need a jnr hacksaw and you're sorted)
