some new instructions, and HT
HT = HyperThreading, SMP, simulation (simulates 2cpu so that 2 threads can be processed at once) this technology greatly increases the multitasking performance, say 3d rendering at the same time burning a cd.

whats not so good about p4, the long pipeline which means less performance alltough more Mhz are achevied.

a P4 3Ghz doesnt perform anywhere near a athlon XP at 3Ghz but the frequency makes up for the pipelines.

It was the first generation of P4's and most of 2nd generation also(stepping I mean).
Williamettes didnt have it enabled but had it
Most Northwoods(533mhz fsb) had it disabled cept 3.06ghz model
but all 800mhz northys have it enabled.

Im refering to HT capabilities =)

P3 did not have it in the core at all.
