Hope this is not a repost, but it might be able to help those on the fence about certain chips, and give them the option to really get more bang for their buck, if they can hold out long enough.

wow those are good prices, but i doubt it'll get that low. i remember before the e8400 release, the MSRP on it was about $183 (i think) and a few weeks after it was on shelf, prices were as high as $280!

figures the story of my life.. i just bought a e8500 and its gonna drop 100$... and i could have got the e8600 instead for less than i paid for this.. arghhhhhhh.......

I believe that since they are seeing the q6600 sell more than the already "soon to be phased out" q9450, then then you might be able to come to the conlusion that the q9450 was a 'failure' in the marketplace due to the popularity of the q6600, since they are keeping that one on the market. wow.

Good times for all of us, I'm gonna wait until this happens, then see what else they drop on us (like a 45nm revisions, similar to the B3 vs. G0 with the c2q family)....then we can expect a higher premium on those revised chips, we'll see, I am just speculating....or maybe the higher clocked chips will be the first of the revised chips? hmm.

hehe well, you should know already that technology is a race for the best parts. new things are constantly coming out to keep up with demand, so parts will devalue very quickly. have you heard of Moore's Law? it holds true up until this day...

rolf...that why I buy quad and still using 7900gt with heavily vmod. Still can play my favourite game NFS and CSS. :P Gonna upgrade when there 13900gt that can play crysis with 150 fps. :O
