I need some advice on the best hd configuration when building my computer.

Here is what I will use it for.

Vista ultimate 64 OS. Minor programs to access the web and a 2gb program to store and run streaming web data for charting. No backup needed for any programs. Nothing else to be on this computer.

I will be using a gigabyte X48 mobo and E3110 with 4gb ram.

I have 2 Raptor 150s. Open to getting whatever others as needed to complete build.

1 Should I use one for OS and other for the data?

2 Use both in raid 0 or 1 with a controller card?

3 Or, use the 2 raptors with other hds in another congiguration.

4 any sugestions on the controller card if needed?

I have PerfectDisk as a defragmentation program.

I want it to be fast.

Thanks

+1

Raid 0 for home use is overrated

I think (contrary to the above posters) that you may be a candidate for RAID-0, depending on what "streaming web data for charting" means. If it's a highly accessed service, possibly with multiple files being accessed at once, then you would be better off without RAID-0. If it's a sequential stream though, you're set for RAID-0. You seem to hit all the other necessary points;
1. No backups necessary
2. You have a 3rd party defragmenting tool
3. Your motherboard supports it

It's just a matter of..
4. You only use one application at a time and use it for "large" file reads (large depends on disk speeds)
