Hey guys,

I've had some questions in another thread, but I have developed some more questions that extend beyond that. I look forward to seeing some of the suggestions and assistance you can provide!

After a lot of research, and especially finding a particular guide on a website that basically said that the best combination is a Q6600 (OC to 3.2) with a 8800GTS 512mb will get you the best performance between the two, and they were components I was looking at initially for myself. My friend also wants a similar system, however the difference is he wants a motherboard that is SLI capable... but he doesn't want to go SLI up front, just wants room to upgrade if need be.

1) I heard previously that there is a problem if you get an SLI mobo and don't do SLI. Is this true? What problems?

2) What motherboard would you recommend for this? Previously looking at the P35 chipset, but this doesn't do SLI correct? What should I look at?

Regarding memory, it has been brought to my attention that if we're getting a Q6600, we should not get anything higher than DDR2-800. I don't fully understand the math, but it has something to do with the actual FSB.

3) Can someone confirm this, and perhaps explain why?

4) What memory should I go with?

I also see that the new motherboards that are coming out are both DDR2 and DDR3 capable. If one of the boards recommended have this... what memory should I go with?

You guys are awesome, thank you so much!
